From bottle #835 @ Stoutsøndag, shared by Vindueskigger. Thanks a lot! Pours pitch black with a small beige head. Aroma of heavy roasted malts, light salty and liqourice, light woody, light raisins, cheese. Taste is salty, light soy, liqourice, woody, roasted as f*ck, notes of coffee, some sweet notes with vanilla and dark chocolate but nothing too clawing. Old school impy, but well balanced.

[12/08/2013] Bottle from De Molen Online Beershop: Inviting pure black body with no head. Nose is toasty, roasty, malts, nuts and woodchips soaked in cocna. Taste is similar: very roasty, malts, caramel and great spicy flavors. Oily texture. Just really nice.

(Sample on tap @ Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade, May 12 2016) Pours black with a dark beige head and spotty lace. Aroma of semisweet chocolate, vanilla, heavy roast, burnt wood, whiskey, coffee and dark fruit. Flavour is medium sweet and quite heavily bitter, with chocolate, lots of vanilla, whiskey, burnt coffee grounds, roasted grain, dark fruits and oak. Back end has a fair amount of roast and char with light hops for bitterness. Long aftertaste to it. Full bodied, creamy carbonation. Super balance. Tried to order one and got a second DL variant glass instead, thanks to a kind soul for offering some of his.

Pitch black color with no head. Aroma has big bourbon and peated whiskey. Taste is also slightly peated but mostly has sweet bourbon, caramel and the finish is bitter with dark coffee flavor. Medium body with the right amount of carbonation for the style. Really good version of H&V.

Bottle, shared by Potjebier, thanks! Dark oily pour. Great aroma of vanilla, booze and thick chocolate. Rich taste of vanilla, ripe red fruit, mild roast, chocolate and bourbon like vanilla booze. Long rich finish. Fantastic.

Draught. Low espresso head, lacing at the upper part of the glass. Devil-black body. Attractive smell of dark fruit and dark malts. Comprehensive flavours of dark black fruits joined by mid-sweet black chocolate. Backbone of bourbon warming down the swallow. Far from heavy to drink. A lovely well blended sipper (Black Sensation at Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade, Copenhagen 12.11.2015).

Tap at mikkeller and friends. Huge flavour of dark cherries, dried fruits, coffee and vanilla. The finish is beautifully long. It’s very strong, but has more than enough aroma and taste to justify its 13%.
