On tap. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste like aroma but adds vanilla, wood and booze. Sweet and pleasant with a little bit of bitterness in the finish. Full bodied. Overall very good - the barrel ageing is very balanced. Definitely one I'd drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl bottle from Mikkeller & Friends bottleshop. Black pour with lovely mocha head that goes the distance. Lovely dark fruits and licorice on the nose - touches of coffee, slightly fruity and vanilla-driven whiskey notes in there too. Smooth vanilla-heavy whiskey in the taste, big roasted malt, plums, figs, dark chocolate, light roast coffee, more licorice, big brown sugar. Tiny touch of booze. Full bodied and velvety. A bit of an earthy hop bite to finish, lingering fruity whiskey and dark fruits. Great stuff.

The aroma and taste have something of an old bookcase. Wood, dusty, whisky, chocolate, roasted coffee. Very long whisky coffee aftertaste.

Benfi (566) - DENMARK - DEC 16, 2013
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2014 Pours black, thin light tan head fades to hazy layer of foam on the surface, tight ring of lacing around the glass. Aroma begins with whiskey- vanilla, coconut and melted caramel- light toffee chocolate roast, fudge and booze-soaked raisin, light cherry. Taste is spicy caramel and whiskey, subtle vinous notes, cocoa dusting, darker bitter roast amid lighter fruit elements, vanilla hiding in the background.

33 cl Bottle. Pours pitch, heavy black with a brown, short lasting head. Aroma has both bourbon and smoked whiskey notes, butter, vanilla, heavy roast, baked banana, syrup, salt, burned sugar. Taste is yummy! Lots of vanilla, espresso. Sweet in a fruity way. The alcohol is definitely there, but it adds complexity and body to the beer. Speaking of, the palate is overall pretty nice, but the carbonation is a little too high imo. One of the better variants!

HopRedHead (391) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - AUG 1, 2013
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black with a short, khaki head with a thick lacing and sticky legs. Aroma contains cocoa, cherries, sweet smokiness (almost a light peatiness) and a light touch of good quality coffee. Taste is where it gets interesting, huge dark cocoa powder flavour, backed by a toasty molasses sweetness and lingering port notes with raisins and cherries. Light bitterness that was unobtrusive and let the malt do the talking. Definitely a different stout to what I’m used to, if you see this buy it.

Draft at Mikkeller & Friends. Inky black pour, opaque, slight tan head. Aroma is bitter chocolate, port, whiskey, burnt caramel, smoke, cherries. Taste is bitter chocolate, oak, dark honey, smoke, booze, and hop bitterness. Thick mouthfeel. Alcohol is slightly too noticeable for my taste.
