Tap @ de Molen. Dark color, short brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolat, dry oak wood, some coffee. Full bodied, creamy texture. Big malty taste, quite sweet, medium bitter, slight dry. The oak chips came through a bit too much, or perhaps the Dutchsky gives it a woody touch as well. Not my favorite, as I’m a sucker for bourbon. Still, wonderful beer.

On tap at Mikkeller Bar Stockholm. Black with a minimal tan head. Aroma and taste of bitter chocolate, roasted malt, wood, port, licorice and some light notes of berries. The body was thick. The finish was long and with warming alcohol. A pleasant one.

33cl Bottle from De Molen Beershop. Black colour, light-brown head. Aroma of loads of booze in the beginning, bourbon, sweet soy sauce, hard roasted - ashy - malts, molasses, coffee, chocolate. Flavour is sweet, less boozy than expected apart from the slight burn in the finish, bourbon, oak, soy sauce, molasses, coffee, hard roasted malts, firm bitter roasted malts in the finish. Full-bodied. Good, just a touch from great. This one really needs to mellow out a bit more imho, although I usually like RIS’s fresh.

Bottle from Mikkeller & Friends bottle shop. Deep, murky brown with absolutely no head. Pretty oily appearance. The nose is rich roasted malt. Plenty of scorched earth, ash. Mild boozy sweetness, dessert liqueur. Bitter dark chocolate and raisin. The taste is more of the same. Bitter chocolate, scorched wood. Bruised dark fruits. Burnt brown sugar. Thick and quite viscous. Not overly boozy, smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. Overall, a pretty good beer, though I can’t say it’s an improvement on 666 itself.

Tap at De Molen. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin tan head and a thick oily consistency. The aroma is rich malty, with alcohol and a malty medicinal edge. The flavour is strong bitter, roasted malt, alcohol and chocolate, A really chewy flavour packed beer!

Countbeer (4672) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUN 14, 2013
Bottle: The number of this Beast is 0049: Dark brown to black pour. Medium sized, vast, slowly changing, light sticky brown foamy head on top of a black colored beer. Aromas of porridge, some chocolate, some liquorice, light roast, liquor, light whiskey (and lighter cognac) notes, hint of berries, hints of marzepin, filled chocolate, light tar ish tones, grass and floral. A well balanced herbal floral barrel aged roasted mix. Flavours of dry liquor and dry roast, some (dry) liquorice, plant extracts, spices, alcohol, bitter, some chocolate and some cacoa, figs, coal, tabacco, some berries, parfume, oil, tar, chalk, some wood burn/roast and ash. Balanced. Aftertaste is plant extract roast, bitter, grass, liquorice, malt roast, light porridge and tabacco. Low carbo, soft silky mouthfeel, full body and an oily texture. Decent beer, but there’s something strange with this beer. Is it the liquor, the dryness or the spicy bitter tones.. Or is it a mix of all these things? But it’s soft and smooth.. After a time breathing it all becomes even better balanced. Good beer!

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2013 Thx to Kraddel @ Rampkrot Whale tasting – 33 cl. Bottle sample. Didn’t know that this existed until today. Black mocha head only on the sides. Nose is mocha, cognac booze, light soy, chocolate, bitter,… Taste is bitter soy, roasted chocolate, vinous, red grapes, vines, liquorish, molasses, bitter roasted malts, bitter herbs, candy, strong bitter spices,… Flat mats,… okay but nowhere near as good as some of the original 666 I have head but that is the regular De Molen story these days.
