Bottle. Hearty near black pour with a dense brown head. Rich roast, chocolate liqueur, oaky vanilla, sweet cognac without any booziness, all in good balance. Heavy mouthfeel, sweet without being cloying. I thought this was going to be hot and boozy, but I’m happy to be wrong. This was fantastic!

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2014 Rating #3000!

330ml bottle from De Molen Beershop
Bottle #1637, bottled DEC 5 2012 - Pours pitch black with a sticky and bubbly light brown head. Aroma of lovely oaky wood, roasty malts, stingy alcohol, hints of cognac, vanilla, dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is smooth and soft but complex with some roastiness, wood, oak, cognac, dark chocolate and oily coffee. Finish is warming, slick and smooth with some roastiness, oaky cognac notes, smoked wood and sweet vanilla. Elegant, heavy but still pretty soft and yet quite complex barrel aged imperial stout. An enjoyable slow sipper. 9-4-8-4-17 = 4.2

Re-rated on 23.8.2014. Bottle #1689. Vertical with 666-ish. Feels heavier than 666-ish and the cognac notes are much heavier than the whisky notes in 666-ish. This is slightly better.

bottle, time to rate this bad boy, had it a few times but haven’t ticked it yet, Thick black pour, chocolate tan head that quickly dissipates but shows up with tiny bubbles each time I swirl the beer around in my glass. Killer aroma, lots of oak, sweet vanilla, rum soaked raisin, slight booze, this stuff really coats the inside of your glass. Taste, wow, thick thick mouthfeel, slight booze, chocolate, oak, rich vanilla brown sugar, roasted malts, fairly sweet but not cloying, well done. This is a great blend, great use of the chips, very smooth stuff, and nicely well rounded, lots of sweet cognac, oak, and vanilla but also a fair amount roast and coffee aftertaste from the original stout, great example of how to integrate added complexity into an already delicious stout.

Vaxad flaska bottled 5 dec 2012. Helt fylld till toppen, som De Molen ibland gör. Drar den parallellt med 666-ish på GHs kontor. Bourbon känns från doften (tydligen konjak vid närmare efterforskning?). Krämig kropp i bra balans. Eken ärpåtaglig. Kul liten raritet.

Pours an opaque black with a large light brown head that settles to a tick ring and has fantastic legs. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, oak like, vanilla, mild cognac notes, dark dried fruits and a touch of licorice. All the aroma blends together quite nicely so not any 1 characteristic is over powering in any way. Flavour is a lot of the same: chocolate, roast malt, cocoa, mild bitterness, dark dried fruits, alcohol, licorice, oak like, mildly sweet and finishes a little warm and dry. Fantastic beer, and i guess that makes my 900th rate beer rating. Definitely memorable!

12 oz. bottle shared at the RBNG by radarsock. The aroma is cognac alcohol with milk chocolate, burnt ash and dark fruit

Flavor shows dark chocolate underneath cognac barrel, burnt malts, and layered caramel and toffee. Full bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate. Mouthfeel is really great without any alcohol hurting any of the flavors. I enjoyed the hell out of this one!

Awesome! Smells a little one dimensional and sweet but flavor is an incredible balance. What an incredible stout!

Nice share courtesy of radarsock. Aroma is brandy, cocoa, figs or raisins, some light roasty coffee and ash. Taste is sweet and loaded with dark fruits which i think are brought out by the cognac barrels with a finish of burned coffee. Nice beer.

Taste at RBNG. Thanks, Andrew! Pours coca cola brown with a bit of white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, cognac. Wow. This is very smooth and lots of flavor. Coffee, dark chocolate, cognac, raisin.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2014 Wow everyone is hatin, bottle from new England bottle share, roasty and bourbony, tons of flavors, that typical really really ashy roasty bomb that we have come to love form de molen. Sweet richness and dark fruits from the bourbon barrels.
