4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Travlr (8186) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAR 20, 2010Bottle at pre-ZBF 2010. The 666 idea came from Urbain Coutteau’s Black Damnation, not the other way around. Black, tan head. Aroma and taste of Hershey bar. Good character and complexity, nice brew.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Torrefacto (88) - - JUN 13, 2013
Color negro intenso. Espuma beige no demasiado bien formada. Aromas dulces a uvas pasas, vino dulce y coñac. En boca es igualmente compleja Fon un inicio dulce que rápidamente pasa a un amargor alcoholico equilibrado. Una gran cerveza, pero a mi el toque de coñac me parece demasiado intenso.

Pitch black pour with almost no head. Taste is roasted malts, liquorice, coffee, chocolate and earth. Fantastic beer! Deep and complex. Can’t get the taste out of my mouth...and that’s okay for me.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Douberd (682) - NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2013
Review No. 666
Bottle, 330 ml, sealed with black wax. Number of that beast: 865
Poured into a snifter. ABV 10%
Totally black in colour as it sits into my glass. Two full fingers of thick, dark beige head sitting on top, collapsing slowly, leaving light lacing around the glass.
Very complex aroma, roasted malts, very obvious smell of the wood chips, while a deeper inhale reveals the alcohol and brandy aromas.
Taste is just great. A bunch of roasted malts, wood, smoke, the alcohol very notable but not harsh, instead mellowed by the cognac, helps also in reducing the overall sweetness a bit. Aftertaste is full of wood and cognac flavours.
Full, thick as oil body, great carbonation. A little sticky on the palate.
Overall this was a fantastic beer, well worth every cent.

Half proefglaasje op de 24 uurs van Maastricht. Zwarte kleur, goede kraag. Ruikt en smaakt hemels. Complex, cognac, whiskey, hout. Heel goed.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 WheatKing (744) - Oak Bay, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 3, 2013
Pours very dark brown, light brown head. Nose is smooth malt, vanilla, wood, definite cognac. Flavour has some coffee, quite vinous, wood, caramel. Thinner mouthfeel, yet slick. Finish is lasting and contains chocolate. Cognac is stronger than the wood flavour, and though it remains in the background it’s definitely the defining characteristic of this beer. Not harsh in any way. A winner.
