3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big thanks to Kan for hauling this back for me! Poured black with no head whatsoever. Aroma is full of roasted malts with dark grains and chocolate and just a hint of red wine. Flavor starts with a bit of red wine but quickly becomes full of roasted malts with some dark grains and a bit of chocolate. A bit thin on the tongue, but at the same time didn’t show any booze.

18cl, as Hel & Verdoemenis ’Bordeaux B.A.’, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2010, thx to Jeppe!, complex Stout, roasted and slightly fruity, yet not too heavy, balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet very expensive!

Bottled 180ml (bottled 09/2010, #565/600)
Thanks bierkoning! Dark opaque brown color, not much head. Roasted, sweet chocolate and malty nose, also hints of caramel and coffee. Full-bodied., smooth palate Licorice, dark malts, coffee, wood, alcohol. Not much Bordeaux, more like sherry. You can’t mess such a good beer like H&V with barrel :)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Fluffy light brown head. Chocolate, roast, coffee wood, cocoa, spice and some vanilla in this beer. Flavour a bit more distinct than the aroma. Medium to full bodied. Ends on a sweet and light roasted note. I’m not that fond about this beer compared to the wild turkey edition and the plain edition.

Botella en casa. Pitch balck colour, small light brown head. Sweet roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit vinious aroma, quite pleasant.Good sticky mouthfeel. Flavour is on the sweet side with quite a roasted maltiness, chocolate, dark fruits, wood and good vinious notes indeed. Needs more volume but still a great brew.

2.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle (#60)... Dark brown ale with rusty highlights around the edges and no head. The aroma provides lots of fudge and a splash of red wine. Medium-bodied with only a trace of carbonation. Flavor-wise, this beer fails me. Rancid bitterness is sharp and biting and overshadows all the delicious fudge, mocha and gentle, vinous acidity that is offered up. Lengthy, metallic, alcoholic finish. As the beer warms, the flavor starts to grow on me, but it’s too little too late. My first sip was just awful. Why all the overbearing, unnecessary EBUs?

Thanks to bierkoning for that rare beer. Bottle looks really good. Nr. 473/600. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. A bit oily. Starts very malty-smoky, dry chocolate notes. Finish drier, some strong coffee notes, well balanced. Very interesting!
