Bottle, 190/600, 18cl, at Patricks. A beer without head, just some brown bubbles, a few. Oily, black body. Loads of coffee on the nose, a solid dose of alcohol too. Chocolate and bonfire blends in. Very oily in the mouth, but not thick, quite flat. Warming and dry as well. The flavor is burnt, with lots of coffee and chocolate, some sugary sweetness and a good dash of alcohol. Some wine notes too. Lasting finish with a good alcohol burn and a solid coffee flavor. A wonderful one, not a beer to drink a lot of, but a nip size bottle is just fine. 101110

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 pantanap (3202) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 4, 2010
De molen hell and damnation Bordeaux barrel. Small nip bottle consumed
at de molen... Pours a still dark portlike stout pour with a lighter
brown fringe and a quickly dissipating head that evolves to non-
existence... Sweet anise, woody sweet, and toffee notes similar to
misto overall from an aroma perspective with light red fruit surfacing softly... Tastes more woody with a
spiciness and a pervading sense of smokiness. Lighter bodied wine
notes with an abundance of tart fruitiness not necessarily resembling
red wine. Some booziness in the finish and a tad thin.

Bottle from Bierkoning. Total black body with no trace of a head. Nose of malts, chocolate and caramel. Taste is similar, starting with nice malts and caramel and toffee. Then deep, dark chocolate. Very smooth and creamy. Then gets quite bitter and sweet. Really nice experience, as always with De Molen.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20 ErikvW (10) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 26, 2010
Small bottle @ home. No carbonation. Winelike mouthfeel. There is some barrel flavour present not as distinct as the other barrel aged versions which I prefer. A little carbonation on this one would have made a difference maybe...
