4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours almost black with brown/golden edges. Aroma is soooo fantastic. Chocolate chocolate chocolate, nuts and a nice hint of redwine and earthy notes and also some hops to balance out the chocolate sweetness. Flavour is so nice too. Hops, chocolate, redwine and earthy notes comes together in a very nice and balanced beer :o)

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph,
Pours oily pitch black with no real head. Incredibly complex aroma. Lots of grapes, vinious, some roasted malts, dark chocolate, cocoa-powder, mild coffee, some oak, light tartness. Light rubber (but somehow in a good way). Low carbonation, oily mouthfeel. Flavour is fairly mild, lots of roasted malts and dark chocolate, oaky, some blackberries, mild spiciness. Lots of warming viniousness. Really lovely.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle kindly passed on by Craig (I think?) Cheers Craig, consumed at The Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage, Oxon, with Peter Fowler (ex Pitsop Brewery) 14.01.11 Black, jet black, sharky eye black, black hole black, yep this is one of the darkest blackest Impy Stouts I’ve ever see. Bit flat and lacking any life, but nice aroma, red wine and some wet wood, oaky touch creamy. Taste is good, really easy drinking, alcohol is marvelously hidden, some fruity wine flavour’s, smooth bit coffee and liqourice, it’s good stuff, however I’m beginning to tire a little of Big Imperial Stouts at the moment. 3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Kamiel (Countbier) - Handed over at the second Borefts Beer Festival at De Molen in Bodegraven. Thanks. This H and V has from the very beggining of Menos beginning of making them been one of my absolute favorits. Especially the Eiken versie with cognac was really good. Now it has been on bourbeaux barrel - and Im kind of a sucker for beers aging on wine barrels so Im looking forward to this red-waxed beauty. The pour is rather disappointing and without any head and any signs of carbonation. Not as thick as I remember and not completely black. When turned against the light it has a redish glow in the edges. The nose is good. Its roasted and heavy malted with traces of caramels, coffee, vanilla, a bit of smoke and black peppercorns. The palate is medium to watery and without any carbonation at all. Thats a shame. The taste is richly flavour and I get impressions like burned almond, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate with an extreme high persentage of cacao. The alcohol is clear in the finish where it tends to burn your mouth a little. A can’t really tell what the barrels have added to this batch. The mild sourness that usually is seen in these red-wine aged bottles are not in mine. I Guess im kinda disappointed, especially the lack of carbonation at all is a shame imo. Cheers everybody and happy new year... tomorrow its back to work. Cheers

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
At Borefts BF 2010. Black, thin tan head. Another stunner from Menno. Very decent. Touch sweet from the barrel ageing. Yet another good big beer.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
25cl bottle pours a flat, oily black with zero head. Smells like turpentine, light smoke, brandy, woody, grappa. Flavor is thick, brown sugar, coffee liqueur, super sweet and sugary, burnt toast. Very full bodied, sweet finish. The barrel is in the nose, but not the flavor. Drinks a lot heavier than 10%.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
180 ml bottle. Clear, pitch-black body with no head, just a few random bubbles. With this beer it looks perfect, just as expected from something like this. The aroma is just fantastic, strong dry fruit like raisins and figs with well-matured oaked red wine and vinous alcohol. Flavor is strong, dry fruit, smooth, dark malt, some chocolate, quite bitter, wood with smooth and warming alcohol. The body feels fat, oily and perfect. The first sip together with the aroma is much like aged wine, quite fruity and then surprisingly and almost intense bitterness leads to quite a different experience. A bit unusually and still incredible smooth and enjoyable. Perfect for sipping and 180 ml is just perfect for one person. Amazing.
