Bottle, 12/31/2013. Pours black, creamy light tan head, soapy ring of lacing around the glass. Aroma is earthy dark chocolate, mild roast, dark fruit, berries, cherry licorice blending with sweet vinous notes and mild bourbon in the finish. Taste is dark bitter roast, coffee, chocolate, licorice, boozy bourbon with subtle vinous finish. Medium body. Really interesting, tasty blend.

At a tasting, thanks DSG, light brown creamy dense head, quite opaque extremely dark brown color, aroma of brown bread and light toasted notes some oakiness, light roased coffee and a hint charred wood, flavor of toasted bread, coffee and some dark chocolate in the back, medium suprisingly strong sourness. Nice subdued imperial stout.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Bottle is filled to the cap. Black with a light brown head. Aroma of roast, dark chocolate, some wood, some vanilla and a light vinous note. Bittersweet roasty flavor with chocolate, coffee, wood, a light acidic touch, a bit of vanilla and a vinous hint. Full-bodied. The bourbon and wine character is quite mild. Really good.

Bottle. I might have got a sample from a worse batch, but this one was quite a letdown compared with the regular version. Soy sauce, dark chocolate, roast, some herbs (fennel?) - I still dig the malt base. But this one made a raw, uncellared impression, with the everpresent booze thrashing its potential complexity. Which is rather curious, since the clou in it is supposed to be the aging. Well, I had a feeling it was aged for a too short amount of time altogether.

Very good. Pitch black with a small beige head and soft prickly carbonation. Nice dry stout with a long finish. Not sweet nor boozy. Flavor starts slightly sour and goes to bitter chocolate espresso vegetables burned malts and caramel. The wine barrels are not as prominent as in the varieties stored on liquor barrels. I like those better.

Une belle tête moelleuse et tenace qui protège un liquide sombre, suave et riche. L’éventail des chocolats y passe surfant sur des tons vineux et des sursauts de petits fruits. Vraiment élégant et décadent à la fois.

Bottle consumed at Hotel Le Grand Balcon, Toulouse, Saturday 15th November 2014 Pours black with light beige head, grimping mire black, actually its black hole black. Aroma of burnt sugars. Dark treacle, thick black treacly mollasses, soft bitterness with a wine edge. Soft in mouth with a little Irish coffee, yum. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

A- a watery but dark cola brown pour with a massive espresso brown head. Mild lacing. S- whiskey, roasted malts and light molasses start you off. Licorice, tobacco, caramel, chocolate cake, coca powder, almond paste and sour oak. Some dustiness and hop quality towards the back. M- medium oily body with a slight burn at the end. Languid carb. T- dirty with bitter chocolate up plus some hop bitterness that hangs around. Sour wood and dark fruits. Roasted malts permeate throughout with a slight alcohol burn as its sidekick. Middle and ending get a little richer with fudge, caramel, and toffee. Vegetal notes, hops and minerals rule the finish. Tobacco, licorice, grass and twigs.
