UPDATED: DEC 26, 2015 33cl bottle, served in snifter glass. Poured a pitch black with a very tiny brown head that quickly disappeared. If you really strain your eyes you can see loads of yeast swimming in the murky blackness. Aromas of dark chocolate, toffee, roasted malt, vanilla, licorice, some hops. Very lovely! Then the taste with flavours of again chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, licorice, bready, dark fruit, grapes, some port-like qualities in there. Thick and gloopy and dancing all around your mouth, just the way I like a RIS. Full body with a sticky, thick mouthfeel that keeps on going in your mouth. I was looking forward to this brew and it was worth the wait, what an absolutely fantastic Imperial Stout. I tip my hat and raise my glass to the guys of ’De Molen’. Dank u wel heren!

33 cl. bottle, poured in to a Snifter. bottled in May ’15. Pitch black with a few, tanned bubbles on top. Roasted aroma with dark malts, caramel, dark, bitter chocolate, coffee, dark dried fruits, some tar and burned notes. A strong, herbal bitterness. Taste is bitter-roasted. Full body with an oily texture and a flat carbonation. Finishes long lasting drying and roasted-bitter with rich, dark malts and liquorice. A big, bad roasted Stout...

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours an inky, pitch black with no head. Roasted cacao nibs all over the nose with some light coffee, burned black sugar and dark fruit. Bitter on the palate with a lot of roasted character. Medium body, with a slightly sticky mouthfeel as it warms up. Bitter and roasted flavors on the finish that linger and linger with a bit of warming alcohol. Bold and delicious.

Clear, dark brown with great beige head. Aroma: dark malts, roasty, alcohol, licorice and dark fruits. Heavy body, sweet. Nice roasty taste; coffee, dark chocolate. Some bitterness on finish. Oily texture. Unfortunately very alcoholic.

0.25L on tap at Druggist Singapore. Appearance: Pours very dark brown, almost pitch black with a small amount of foam that quickly fades. Aroma: Initial whiff is that of molasses and caramel, with thick and sticky roasted notes with a base of dark toasted bread. Then comes the sweet scent of raisins and dried fruits which finishes off with the scent of alcohol. Taste: Very creamy and silky smooth texture to the point of being oily. Medium heavy mouth-feel with a bit of chew. Taste is molasses and raisin dominant and was pretty sweet. Fortunately the sweetness isn’t cloying. Then comes the slight medicinal taste of licorice with hints of spiciness. However the medicinal taste is tad too dominant. Alcohol is well covered up by the sweetness and roasted flavors. Finish: Excellent smooth and long finish of coffee notes which slowly develops into a rich chocolate taste. The finish is where the roasted chocolately goodness reveals itself. Overall: A decadent and lovely Imperial Stout with predominant molasses and raisins notes with an aromatic and long coffee, chocolate finish. Though it was a little overly sweet and medicinal for my liking.
