UPDATED: JAN 8, 2015 Dark brown to black but bright at the edges, no head whatsoever. Aroma is soy-sauce, chocolate milk, medium-roast coffee, light BBQ sauce, some herbal brush. Body is syrupy, medium-heavy weight with barely noticeable, super-light, super-fine carbonation with a light burn (not enough!). Flavor is soy-sauce, cocoa, a pleasant pine sap and earthy burnt toast and coffee in the finish. Fruity (cherry-strawberry). Overall, an OK imperial stout, free of imperfections, but way too light on carbonation, too much soy sauce, and no head.

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2015 Bottle, 33cl. It is gorgeous! Pours nearly dark but once shaken it creates bloody, winish rings near the foam. A head is thin but creates very nice, long-lasting lacing. You can tell from the appearance and how the drink behaves in glass that it will be full bodied. Aroma is very complex with roasted malt and chocolate countered by milkish sweetness, almost like oatmeal with milk. Fantastic treat. Taste is built of sticky sweet on the top of the tongue which smoothly go into the salty sensations on its back and finally, a bitter finish. An aftertaste is actually built of all three - sweetness, saltiness and bitterness but the latter has the greatest power. Very long-lasting aftertaste which, at the same time, is very pleasant. It is like high-quality coffee giving you this gorgeous aftertaste you don’t want to pass all day. As expected, it has a full, perfect body. Oily as it should be. I would never tell it has 10% as I cannot feel alcohol at all. You may think from this description that the beer will likely have low drinkability but it is completely other way round! It’s just this beautiful aftertaste that you want to last forever that makes you drink this beer slowly. A beautiful stuff. Delicious. Try it out.

Vintage 2009. Negro opaco sin espuma. Aromas intensos de chocolate, frutos rojos, uvas pasas y suave licor. Cuerpo denso y sedoso, con inicio dulce de chocolate intenso, frutos rojos con final suave de licor muy agradable y equilibrado.

On tap at Monk’s. Beautiful black with a creamy tan head. The aroma is roasted malt with licorice, coffee and chocolate. The flavor is similar. It has a creamy sweet feel with a lingering after taste. Excellent.

Bottle ’11 - Pours dark black with brown head. Rich and dark chocolate smells plus dark berries. The taste is fudgy chocolate deliciousness. A little bitterness like a rich dark chocolate and a creamy mouth feel. I wish I had another bottle.

BOTTLE 33 CL from eluosiren. Medium intensity, noble roast - chocolate, coffee beans with some clove-like spice? Some simple "dark" sweetness (cold sweet coffee?), a touch of warming alcohol and spicy bitter finish. I also get some fresh cut zucchini or avocado, that I often see in stouts. Simple, balanced, but not earth-shattering.

Black color with some reddish notes and barely beige head. Definitely, coffee on the aroma, roasted malts, dark chocolate and some hops. Creamy mouthfeel. Very good taste, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, toffee, with a bitter backgorund. Very balanced beer, you barely notice the alcohol. Really nice!

Bottle from Sean, who went to Holland. Big liquorice nose, roast malt and touches of coffee. Heavy, heavy mouthfeel, loads of dark fruits. Luscious, coffee flavour. Soft carbonation. Long, complex finish. Awesome.

330ml bottle from Mikkeller webshop. Black colour, lively beige foam head leaving lacing and aroma of roast malt, molasses, dark fruits, chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt with leather, coffee & dark chocolate, some nutty notes and lingering bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, warming boozy roast bitter finish. Very drinkable.
