4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
on tap @ Sergio’s / Louisville KY --- Opaque brown/black, solid head that never drops below 1", full lace cover. Taste is sweet toffee malt. A very chewy mouthfeel includes the addition of earth and clay. The finish briefly turns toward milk chocolate, but can’t hold on against mild bittering which moves in for a satisfying finish. An exceptional brew.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
33cl bottle @ home from Mitra, bottled on 02-05-2012. Dark brown color with ruby shade, extremely high rocky brown head, medium lacing. Aroma coffee, dry fruits in the nose, flavor is more dark roasted coffee, less fruit, tons of dark chocolate, soy sauce, toast, roastyed malt, also caramel and molasses but not dominant, herbs. Alcohol is quite noticable. Taste light sweetness, heavy bitterness, hint of sourness. Extremely full body, oily and creamy texture, soft carbonation, fantastic long lasting roasty coffeeish bitter finish. A heavy dessert beer, which is nearly perfect, it takes some time to drink it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle (33cl). 2011 edition. Small beige head, reduces to a thin ring with a small amount of lacing. Very dark, good-looking reddish brown colour. Rich, sweet and boozy aroma of roasted malt, raisins, soy sauce, licorice, chocolate, coffee. Full body, soft carbonation, oily, high-viscosity mouthfeel. Sweet malty taste nicely balanced by a hint of acidity and a growing bitterness, leading to a relatively dry finish. Long fruity-malty aftertaste.

Bottle from Cotteridge wines. Black beer with small head. Aroma of roasted malts and soy sauce. Taste is burnt malts, coffee, soy sauce, dark prunes and surprisingly some bourbon barrels. Full bodied and oily. Very good, but was hoping for a better beer from one of my wants.

Pours to a deep brown body with no head. The aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is super roasty with a char and a black malt. Like a black coffee. Medium full body.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown pour hints of red wine like looks no real head. Roasty aroma hints of coffee. Avg palate. Dry roasty coffee flavor thinner than expected shockingly light for 10%. Good but not the great thing I expected.
