Bottle (33cl). 2011 edition. Small beige head, reduces to a thin ring with a small amount of lacing. Very dark, good-looking reddish brown colour. Rich, sweet and boozy aroma of roasted malt, raisins, soy sauce, licorice, chocolate, coffee. Full body, soft carbonation, oily, high-viscosity mouthfeel. Sweet malty taste nicely balanced by a hint of acidity and a growing bitterness, leading to a relatively dry finish. Long fruity-malty aftertaste.

Bottle from Cotteridge wines. Black beer with small head. Aroma of roasted malts and soy sauce. Taste is burnt malts, coffee, soy sauce, dark prunes and surprisingly some bourbon barrels. Full bodied and oily. Very good, but was hoping for a better beer from one of my wants.

Pours to a deep brown body with no head. The aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is super roasty with a char and a black malt. Like a black coffee. Medium full body.

Dark brown pour hints of red wine like looks no real head. Roasty aroma hints of coffee. Avg palate. Dry roasty coffee flavor thinner than expected shockingly light for 10%. Good but not the great thing I expected.

Great, well balanced imperial stout. Pours dark and thick black with ok head and lacing. Some of that classic peat smoked malt aroma that pervades a lot of De Molen stuff. Light burnt aroma. Soft carbonation. Dark chocolate. Finishes a little more sweet than bitter, but good balance. Definitely prefer this to the Wild Turkey version. Bottle thanks to Colemanzuber at Churchkey. Cheers!

Bottle - 750mL corked and caged from the Rare Beer Club. Black pour with a short tan head. Aroma is strong roasted malt, dark, oily coffee beans, dark chocolate and burnt caramel. Taste is big roasted malt and coffee, bittersweet dark chocolate, caramel, chocolate cake notes and light vanilla. Body is medium-full with a dense, creamy carbonation. Slight warmth as well. Ends with more roasted malt, dark coffee, dark chocolate, chocolate cake and burnt brownies.

Bottle with Pedro. Pours black with medium tan head and soapy lace. Aroma is roast malt, espresso, chocolate. Full body, creamy. Espresso and chocolate upfront with a very spicy mid-palate and more chocolate and roast on the finish. Dry finish. Really nice stout.

Bottle from a trade with Mathieuc, thank you sir. Pours quite pitch black/ spent motor oil, but the head is brown/ khaki and very active initially, them dies down. Leaves tiny lace spots. Nose is sweet chocolate, vanilla, coffee, roast, sugar , toffee. Tastes both sweet and bitter, roasted malts, coffee, toffee. Fantastic.
