Dark mahogany with big, flotsam, mottled brown head / Slightly metallic, muted nose of cigar box, chocolate, and roast barley / Medium to full body, moderately chewy, very malty but with excellent hop balance, and good, although slightly hot, finish / Rich flavors of cigar box, semisweet chocolate, dark roast coffee, vanilla, oak, and bourbon / Must be spectacular upon aging.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2009 75 cl bottle @ Kaisla. Pours pitch black with a small head. Roasted malt and some bitterness in the aroma. Fascinating taste of almost perfectly balanced hops and roasted malt with notes of dark chocolate and coffee. One of the best beers Ive tasted.

Another belting wedding gift from our Mes, cheers again mate, you did us proud. Black with honeycomb like head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, lovely smell. Flavour has similar and with a faint hint of fruit and hops, touch of smoke, aniseed and a strong blokey earthy manliness. Thick palate, strength is evident, and very welcome. Very tasty, very enjoyable.

This corked and caged bottled brew from a bottle shopmarked brewed 8/27/08 bottled 9/26/08 #244 poured a head of all foam. The fom came up and out of the bottle as it poured. The pour resulted in a head of fine to large sized dark brown colored bubbles that left behind an opaque black colored body, no visible carbonation and a sparce lacing. The aroma was mild vinous dark brown malt and a mild medicinal note. The strong vinous flavor contained notes of hops roasted malt and dark malt. Very yummy! Excellent brew. Watchout for this killer!

Bottle. Very dark brown with a thin head. Aromas are leather and soy with molasses. Smoky with chocolate and a light meatiness. Some herbal liquorice. Flavours are sweet chocolate with earthy roast coffee. Smoky and smooth with dark chocolate bitterness and liquorice. Peppery and oily on the palate. Warming alcohol. Good.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2009 Bottled 26 Sept 2008. Big pop of the cork followed by a slow eruption of brown foam. Pours black with a brown head. Huge milk chocolate, mild coffee aromas. Frothy explosive mouthfeel. Once this glass aired out , the flavor was rich milk chocolate with dark roasted malts. As it warmed some black malts lead to a nicely bitter finish. Great sippin’ stout.

2008 bottle #317. Thank you a million times to Jan & Charlotte. Pours a crazy thick viscous glug glug, has a lasting brown head. Head looks fizzy and aerated but it lasts very long. Crazy aromatic! Lots of rich, rich, decadent luscious chocolate. Smells boozy in a good way. More chocolate than anything else in the aroma, not a lot of coffee and not a lot of fruit either except for some sour cherries hanging low. Smooth palate with good lively carbonation. Light and soft and yet thick at the same time. Dangerously drinkable. Lots of roast and is almost burnt. Very nice. Finishes exceptionally clean but has quite a bit of heat. Flavors do include some coffee and finishes with a whack of dark chocolate. Then as it warms I smell the hops...NICE brew :)

Quite inky, just a thin head. Very rich imperial stout nose with all the usual suspects - fat tangy dark malts, light fruits, lots of roast and a splash of alcohol. Rich and thick body is soft and sweet. There’s lots of roast and alcohol up front, backed by almonds and halva. Picks up a bit of fruitiness late. A nice impy, some lighter fruit notes emerge as it warms, an unusual nuance for the style. Thanks fonefan!

Pours out black with lots of creamy lasting head. Taste is roasty and semi sweet. Strong flavors of the usual chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit with lots of hops and some alcohol. Sticky sweetness with a dry finish. A very good Imp stout.
