3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was great. The bottle completly fits the beer and it’s name. Black and red, can it get more devilish? Pure black as hell when poured out, forming little head. Full aroma of licorice, coffee and roastiness with a small hint of vanilla. Flavour is huge, a lot of going on and really strong. Coffee more than present, alongside with roasted malts and some alcohol. Licorice and vanilla are present in the middle, but then the coffee takes over again. Long finish, great beer, for a good occassion.

Bottle with Ian at the Kent Beer Fest. Black in colour with an oily bubbles around the rim. Bitter cherry, hint of smoke. Very rich. Liquorish flavours with an excellent bitter coffee finish. Frankly awesome.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330 mL bottle at Le Cheval Blanc. (bottled October 6 2010). A bit of a gush on opening. Black with a large brown head. The aroma is fairly tame, but the flavour is huge. Huge I tells ya. Cappucino, booze, dark chocolate, dark fruit, roast. Herbs. Nice bitterness level. A bit of a burn on the way down. I’d love to have one of these to put away for a couple of years.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
RBSG 2010 - Bottle at HopCat that Kyle so kindly purchased to share. Cheers Bro! Totally black and no one seemed to get anything more than a skim produced. Huge coffee aroma and big fruit, figs, chocolate, good raspberry chocolate, airy dry and dusty somehow with a thick nose. Flavours of coffee, chocolate, plenty of hops covered up with coke and then big big coffee, sour raspberry. Colossal finish. Really good but not as good as that mac & cheese pizza that I bought for Northerbrews but ate myself.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle au cheval blanc, during mondiale week.
Jet black pour, no head. Aroma of intense burnt malts, espresso, dark soy, and a touch of bitter licorice. Intense mouthfeel, thick and viscous, coats my palate. Warming from the alcohol is very present, quite bitter finish, with a solid sweet coffee mixed with bitter cocoa finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
It was decent but I think there may have been something wrong with the bottle. I loved heaven and hell but this had a strange off putting spicy/medicinal taste that became stronger as it warmed. The backbone of the beer was quite tasty with notes of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, sweetness, but i couldnt get past that odd flavor that I have a hard time even describing.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2012 Stronger flavors than heaven and hell in an odd direction. Ended up getting third in a beer tasting. A bit to much of a sharp attack that does not flow well.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle 75 cl at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Poured pitch black in colour with thin tan head. Mostly coffee in aroma. Flavour more subtle with some smooth elements, but still coffee being the dominant taste. Some hops are there but they stay more in the background in favour of the delicous coffee taste. Aftertaste coffee and liqourice mostly with some faint hoppy notes as well.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
75cl bottle @ Pikkulintu. 11,9%. # 216. Bottled 22.08.2008. Poured black color with a beige head. Aroma contains coffee, lots of nuts and oaky notes along with some roasted malt. Flavor is coffee, nuts, oak, hops and caramel. Finish is long with espresso kicking in after a while. Just incredible, one of the best beer I have ever tried so far. Very smooth and round, nearly no alcohol detected, slightly warming finish.
