Bottle I received for Christmas. Poured a near clear near black with no head whatsoever. Aroma was full of roasted malts and coffee with a bit of sweeter dark grains. Flavor was rich with roasted malts, dark grains and coffee and a hint of chocolate.

Bottled. Pours opaque black with a tin head. Nose of roasted malts chocolate, plum, fig, and spices. Flat carbonation. Sweet roasted flavour with dark fruits, black coffee and chocolate. Full bodied. Oily exture. More dry finish with some bitterness too. Very enjoyable.

Dark brown pour, solid tan sheet. Rich, chocolaty nose..malted milkshake, fudge, fresh roasted coffee...fucking sublime. Flavors are all that and more..lots of mocha, coffee, chocolate...was that redundant? Roasty but very maltish..sweet, yet dry...even slightly salty...a touch of peanut? its like an abbotts turtle liquified and 10.2% alcohol...its like the living wet dream. Absolutely devine!

Thanks Kevin for sharing this brew! A- Body appears pitch black-but when held up to the light translucent red hues shine through. Pouts with a thick medium brown collar-some lacing is left behind in the glass. S- Overripe plum dominates the nose. Behind this is a balance of licorice, anise, roasted malt, some anise, and a hint of alcohol astringency. T- A slight roasted malt flavor is prominent upfront along with dark chocolate, ripe plum, and a hint of alcohol. The finish is consistent with the initial flavor but adds a hint of licorice and anise. What lingers are impressions of the initial flavor and a warm alcohol heat. M- Smooth thick and creamy body with low carbonation. D- This is a nice RIS. The fruit character is a bit ripe for me but the addition of a slight roasted malt presence more than makes up for it. Great brew overall Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 06-29-2010 02:34:27

12oz bottle, vicious and black, thin tan head, great looking beer, malty and Sharp, coffee, burnt coffee, a little bit smoky and ashy. Its not favorite RIS, but quite delicious. As it warms I’m getting more chocolate and sweet, great stuff.

330ml bottle. Big hiss on opening, suggests over carbonation. Pours totally black, with a rocky beige head. Tar, resin, coffee on nose and palate, with a dark plum type flavour showing up. Pleasant long finish.. It is certainly fizzy, not right in a stout. (#309; brewed 18/11/09)

Érezni a komlót is, itatja magát rendesen. Lecsengése keserédes és száraz. De kár a szavakért, ki kell próbálni...

’09 750ml. Still in the glass. Quite nice aroma of medium chocolate, oak barrel influence (cannot identify the type of booze in the barrel), liquored plum/raisin, and a smidge of underlying malt roastiness. Watery feel in the mouth; weak body. Taste follows mainly the aroma with the plum/raisin notes asserting a bit more. Quite a let down overall as the beer is flabby, loose, and imprecise.

On tap at Congregation Ale House, Long Beach Chapter. Black pour with a dense brown head. Nose is espresso, wood smoke, and alcohol. Taste is Belgian yeast, roasty malt, coffee, baker’s chocolate and an alcohol finish. Palate is full, finoshing dry, with a wonderful coffee aftertaste.
