Servida en Les 4 Pedres ( Badalona) Embotellada, 33cl, lacada en rojo. Aromas a café, chocolate y regaliz. Cerveza de color negro con una textura aceitosa y un cordón fino de espuma de color beige. El sabor es dulce y amargo al mismo tiempo. Intensa amargura del chocolate, notas a café, regaliz. Buen cuerpo, bien equilibrado y bastante compleja. Una gran cerveza aunque no es de mi estilo.

33 cl bottle, brewed in 2011. Pours black with a quickly dissipating brown head. Aroma has tar, charcoal, slightly medicinal, fresh grounded coffee, alcohol, dark chocolate, molasses, subtle hints of dried figs, dates and caramel, notes of port and fruity shiraz. Taste is insanely balanced, roast and sweetness up front, coffee, charcoal, dark dried fruits, raisins, chocolate, hints of leather. A hint of alcohol, which helps support some of the sweetness. Dry finish. The carbonation is very soft, but the hard roast and the alcohol hinders it from becoming cloying. The best non barrel aged beer I’ve had from De Molen. Really good.

Bottle picked up at Capone’s a few weeks back and served side-by-side with the Misto and Wild Turkey versions. Served in a FFF-Intelligentsia snifter. Pours near black with a really big and creamy tan head. Great retention and quite a few rings of lacing on the way down. THe nose brings a large amount of roast. Really, really roasty. Some dark chocolate in the background as well. The flavor is mostly roast with just a touch of chocolate and espresso behind. Really highly carbonated with a modest boozy presence. Finish is a bit dry and over-roasted. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-14-2011

Tap at the Churchkey in D.C. Pours black as sin with a dense brown head and a little sticky lacing. Smells of dark chocolate, coffee beans, dates and figs, some biscuit and toffee. Taste is more coffee forward than chocolate, but outside of that replicates the aroma pretty well with some booze thrown in to boot. Very smooth drinker, and a lovely nightcap to a hot as shit evening with some friends in our nation’s capitol.

Wow. Quite incredible. Somehow balanced yet abrasive. Nose has some hops to it but this is not a ’bitter stout.’ Full mouthfeel really makes this beer shine.

Pour brown tons of floaties ridiculous tan head and outrageous lacing. Aroma chocolate, coffee, slight dark fruit, very roasty, caramel, espresso, booziness, cherries. Taste boozy, chocolate, espresso, roast, coffee, strange bitterness, dark fruit. MF full slight creamy body mild carb. Overall really tasty stuff the strange bitterness is a bit much.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2012 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Love it ! A one of a kind. A very heavy, sipping beer. Well worth the price tag. Massive intensity and huge flavours. Packs a punch like no other

Bottle. Pitch black color, almost no head. Not all that pretty. Aroma is delicious with lots of subtle roast, vanilla, sweet liquorice, spices, very little alcohol, and some nice hops near the end. A great deal of coffee and a peculiar sweetness to it as well. Taste has tons of coffee, chocolate and roast as well as a bit of oak-ish characteristics. It isn’t boozy but there it packs a punch. The sweetness dominates but there is a nice balance in the bitterness towards the end. Delightfully excellent.

Remarkably smooth but for its bitterness and noticeably high gravity. Also, not as sweet as I would have imagined it, but smoke, coffee, dark chocolate, and tobacco flavors predominating. A bit heavy-handed, a good sipper, but not sure I’d repeat this one.
