Draught. Very thick, extreme aroma. Corn flakes, mocca-liqurice, walnut. The taste and mouthfeel hits you like a boom! Like oil, wonderful, spicy and oily. Only the finish could be a bit stronger.

Bomber from Bierkoenig. Pours opaque black, it looks thick, and topping white head that stays put. Aromas of roast, coffee, chocolate but not overally so. Taste has the roast, the chocolate, after the get through the hop bitterness which is there but you cannot put a finger on which they are. Very drinkable, this is strong stuff, even with food.

The bottle opened without a hiss, and the beer poured without forming head. Having paid about Ä 4,50 for this beer, this worried me. The smell was a bit dusty, the taste was horrible. Did not know carbonation was that important. This brewery puts a lot of effort in its labels, uses numbers and a wax dip. A shame it fails to buy and use decent caps. I think all of the carbon escaped from the bottle. This beer ended up in the sink. I hope this is an incident and the Rasputin is better.

Pours brownish-black with no head at all. Not very attractive. I have sampled several H&V now from different batches but so far it has been a big dissapointment. Sure there are lots of flavors and aromaís present but the total zero carbonation spoils it completely. The mouthfeel is far too oily, almost slimy (sorry canít find another word for it) This could have been dampened by more lively carbonation. I think the brewery has serious problems keeping this beer under good pressure and maintaining bottle consistency. You just donít know want you get for your 11.00 euro and that is a shame. Itís like sampling coffeeliqueur, no beer. Given the choise I would pick their Rasputin over this anytime.

Huge grapefruity, treacle, dark chocolate, dark fruit nose. Unbelievable nose for an imperial stout. Well balanced mouth which shows lots of cascade hops and strawberries on top of the roasted malt, dark chocolate character. Very smooth and dangerously easy to drink. Fairly aggressive bitter finish. Amazingly well made beer.

75cl Bottle. Gusher that wonít stop -- had to empty 2/3 of the bottle before we could put it down. And given how big the head was, that took 10 minutes. Black body with brown edges, with brown head, lots of brown yeasties settled to the bottom. Aroma is rich, moderately sweet, cocoa, coffee/roast, some molasses, light alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, cocoa, coffee/roast, some chocolate syrup, light alcohol. Full body, fairly sticky.

gyllenbock (5431) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 5, 2010
Bottle at Monks in Stockholm. The color was pitch black and the foam large. The aroma contained a lot of espresso, chocolate, roasted malt also some earthy tones. The beer barely contained any carbonic acid at all. A lot of roasted coffee and chocolate. Heavy but despite the high alcohol content (11.9%) the beer was pretty easy to drink. Aftertaste had a lot of roasted notes. A nice Imperial Stout.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours black with a decent tan head. Aroma is unusual. Almost like funk and some solvent. In a good way. Maybe some coffee. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Some heat. Lots of wood and vanilla, with coffee and chocolate. Very smooth.

marcus (7217) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 4, 2010
Pours dark brown with a nice tan head and a chocolate aroma with a hint of something strange, maybe sweaty sox. There is a delicious chocolate flavor with coffee and vanilla. The mouthfeel is somewhat carbonated and there is a dry bitter chocolate finish. Very complex.

UPDATED: DEC 3, 2011 33cl, at 10%Vol, Dutch brew, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex Stout, balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet expensive, top class!
