4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from PP Bottle shop. Initially $14.99, then jumped to $21.99, then sold out for a tasting. Black, thick body, sweet. Mellowed. I’m not sure if it is mellowed from age. Slightly sweet. Rich flavor. Low carbonation. Hint of smoke. Alcohol reasonably well hidden. Low roastiness. Nice.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
A very complex black imperial stout with a extremely slick, smooth mouthfeel. Rather light bodied and very drinkable yet full of nicely roasted flavours and a good bitterness in the finish. Maybe not for everyone but I love the light bodied very slick imperials.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The aroma is roasty and sweet, something acidic about it too. When I swirl the glass I get some chocolate too but after another swirl the note disappears. This is confirmed by two other people drinking with me. Weird. The taste is malty and roasted, salty and liquorice there too. Quite balsy, don’t know if I am too crazy about the saaz hops still, in combination with the alcohol and the acidic roastyness it is slightly overpowering for me. I think this is maybe something I respect more than like. Good stuff nevertheless.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black colour and dark foam. Very strong and spicey scent. Tastes of burned caramell, dark chocolate and smokey tobacco (possibly cigarr). Very long aftertaste. Very nice beer!

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
bottle, shared by SHIG, I was really excited to try this. Bottle, 354 of 570, pours viscous black, dark tan head. Dark toffee and expresso notes, with some dark malt aromas. Perfect flavor, bakers chocolate, expresso and alcohol. Special stuff.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle #60/282. 2008 Vintage. Blackish beer with a huge tan head. Cork came flying out and the carbonation spilled beer (even after pouring a glass) for a while. Big molasses, rich malt, and light spice aroma. Rich malty/molassess flavor with yeast and spice and light coffee. Fuller bodied. Coffee, chooclate, molassess and yeast linger with a bit of earthy spice. Alcohol present, but adds a nice sipping beer touch. Very nice.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2011 Bottle. Pours a black body with a thin lacing like dark coffee bubbles. Licorice, dark fruits, lactose, and plastic bags (very odd). Did paint thinner spill in here? This beer is hot chewy and overly sweet. Maybe this needs to age 25 years as per the bottle cause this was dam awful i couldn’t get help from 5 friends to finish this $25.00 bottle. Bummer. 2.8
I had this for a third time. Share by V tafro, i cant say i took any notes but i did score it overall as a 3.5. So ill average the two. 3.3

Shared by Rciesla. Thanks Broski. Pours flat and lifeless. Sweet, hoppy, and boring. My buddy Reuben just said This tastes like paint thinner. This is horrible. I’m inclined to agree.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
(Draught at Ölbaren, Copenhagen, 13 Feb 2009) Pitch black colour with lasting, creamy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and cream. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, dark chocolate and cocoa. Full body with smooth, creamy mouthfeel and a touch of coffee bitterness in the finish to spice it up. The intensity of flavours comes through after a while. Alcohol notes firmly tucked away throughout. Not overdone in any direction, just a masterpiece of taste and perfect balance. Some beer to stumble across on a Friday the 13th. Stunning beer!
