Shared by Rciesla. Thanks Broski. Pours flat and lifeless. Sweet, hoppy, and boring. My buddy Reuben just said This tastes like paint thinner. This is horrible. I’m inclined to agree.

(Draught at Ölbaren, Copenhagen, 13 Feb 2009) Pitch black colour with lasting, creamy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and cream. Malty, roasted taste with black coffee, dark chocolate and cocoa. Full body with smooth, creamy mouthfeel and a touch of coffee bitterness in the finish to spice it up. The intensity of flavours comes through after a while. Alcohol notes firmly tucked away throughout. Not overdone in any direction, just a masterpiece of taste and perfect balance. Some beer to stumble across on a Friday the 13th. Stunning beer!

750ml bottle from west lakeview.....aroma of sweet malt, chocolate, roast, malt and a little smoke...pours a lifeless black pour with a barely noticeable pour which doesn’t compare with some of the more recent ratings. my experience was much more aligned with herohen’s.... flavors of sweet roasted malt, a little char, and primarily burnt chocolate with some dark or red fruit in the background...pretty low carbonation and a medium mouthfeel. small, bitter finish, somewhat dry....can’t say this is worth the pricetag.

750 ml bottle, bottle #413 of 570
Pours black, head? this beer was nothing but head, the glass was full of head, the bottle was more than full of head, it was gushing out of the bottle neck like a minor geyser. I had to rush out to the kitchen to get more glasses, didn’t want to waste any of this fine brew. Aroma is roasted malt with hints of smoke. Rich and warming flavour, notes of aniseed, liquorice and roasted malt. Dry, bitter finish.

Bottle at Arendsnest. Pitch black, no head. Really nice. Sweet and malty taste, some sweetbread and raisins too. Heavy texture and very sweet. Similar in some respects to Jagermeister. Burnt malts, same caramel. And dried cherries towards the finish. Delectable.

Bottled 33 cL from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Opaque black appearance, no head (i see others do?). Very complex aroma, malts, laurel, liquorice, raisins, coffee, chocolate, very good. Complex flavour as well, sweet with bitterness in finish. Everlasting finish. Extraordinary brew, very complex, not necessarily my favourite flavours but still i keep sipping this one. Very well brewed!
