4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUN 2, 2010 0,75 l bottle, csakajosor.hu.
Oh my god....This beer kicks ass. Poured like rock-oil with a sirupy density and a black, untransparent appearance, a brown, foamy and creamy, stable head. Powerful aroma with all of the character of the style. Earthy, wooden and roasted grainy perfume with coffe and dark chocolate, leather and molasses, dried fruits like plum and raisins. The flavor is unbelievable complex. Hard body with a sirupy, oily texture. Taste of deep roasted grains, cocoa and dark choclate, molasses and coffee again with some spicy vanilla and espresso in the background. Wooden, burnt wooden cask, tannins rules the palate, deep roasted aftertaste that takes long and long and long. Wonderful stout! Thanks DeMolen!
Brewed on 18/02/2010, bottled on 08/04/2010 - bottle nr 150 of 360.

Taste of alcohol, fudge, sweet coffee, fusels, espresso with a medium creamy finish. This beer was quite alcoholic and didn’t hide it well.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Major head, slightly larger bubbles than I expected. Very dark brown with red hues at the edge. Sparkling aroma, even at the cold temps at which this was served. First sensation seems sour but with a big rauch note in the midpalate. Late sour-smokey finish, lingering on a warming roasted note, very mellow. A little limp in the mouthfeel department. Very good but not mind-blowing good. (on tap at Nederlands Biercafe ‘t Arendsnest, Amsterdam)

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Fabulous. Extreme beer. I think meant to be almost still, which it is. No head, only a few bubbles. Color is an opaque brown tinged black. Aroma us ultra rich and chocolate malt roast coffee. Flavor is like aroma just a hint of bitterness at the end. Body is excellent despite being almost flat. All my friends sitting here trying it say "Goddamn good beer!" Only hints of alcohol in the end which is lengthy. Absolutely fabulous. Label says ageable up to 25 year. Wonder what an older version tastes like.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: DEC 5, 2011 750mL 2008 ed at Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont. Pours with insane carbonation a muddy deep brown with a very aggressive, large-bubbled, brown head that has excellent retention and leaves some frothy lace. Aroma is a knockout: rich dark chocolate, Godiva liquor, coffee beans, cigar tobacco, chocolate milkshake, spicy vanilla beans, ginger ice cream. As it warms some smoke character comes out like smoked barbecue. Taste is a slap in the face with massive dark chocolate, raw cocoa butter, freshly ground coffee. Intense bordering on hilarious. Great coating mouthfeel. My only qualm here is that the body becomes very sweet. Still the near 12% is well hidden. 5/6/2010 9/4/8/4/14=3.9
Tap at Paradiso Dupont. A muddy, sepia pour yields a reverse cascade yellow head. Small retention. Thicker rings of lace remain miraculously. Nose is pretty olive briny, saltwater, burnt hazelnut, umami flavors like nori and Kalamata olives. Eh. Taste is slap your face bitter...almost rip your head off unsweetened dark chocolate. No sugar. Just bitter cocoa powder onslaught. Roasted hazelnut. Thick laden mustiness and mild chalk warns of a little too much yeast in suspension. Still very nice, savory, and would come across as superlative for those seeking out heavier stouts. If you don’t like heavy, bitter, dark beers you will hate this, probably die, and go to hell. 7/4/8/4/15=3.8
