3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 15/20
From bottle. Bottled April 2011. Pours deep brownish black with no transparency. No head or much carbonation. Smell is amazing. Roasty chocolatey spicy and boozy with no hop aroma. Has a little oak/wood character. Looks and smells like a good quality imperial stout. Taste is incredibly dark bittersweet chocolate with coffee notes. The bitter chocolate really lingers in the after taste. The mouthfeel is very thick and slick. However I am really missing some carbonation and I wish there was a little more yeast and hop spice to give a little balance. This could just be my bottle though. Anyway. Disappointed in this, and at $11/12 oz bottle, I'm not itching to try to buy another when there are so many great Imperial Stouts out there.

Black body with a very thin brown head. The aroma are the usual suspects. Toasted malt, licorice, dark chocolate, coffee but.... is that soya sauce? Seems like it from the taste. Light sweet, medium bitterness, and umami taste. I like this beer. Would be interesting to age one.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Verdens bedste Imperial Stout? Meget kompleks og komplet øl. Lang dyb eftersmag, som bare lader én glide ned i sædet...
Kuldioxiden perfekt tilpasset til øltypen.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Look: Syrupy pour with delicious, creamy, average size, dark mocha head. Has good retention, bubbles popping away slowly, creates a creamy, thick top layer, which leaves very fine lacing. Some carbonation visible on the side of the glass. Dark, dark brown, can’t see through. Some yeast bodies sediment to the bottom. Everything as it should be.
Smell: Roasted coffee with caramel and dark chocolate up front. Also some milk chocolate with dried plums, nuts and vanilla. A bit of freshness from sour dark berries, dark fruit. It’s sweet, fat, creamy, stuffy, you can feel those 24 Plato degrees that went into this beast. Couldn’t stop smelling it - rich, as soon as you find one note, another one comes along.
Taste: Medium (to high) sweetness, starts with mostly caramel and some burned sugar, milk chocolate with light berry sourness (makes it fresher and juicier), dry plums. Then it transfers into dominant roasted coffee with some dark chocolate. Roasted coffee driven medium to high bitterness with a tiny bit of alcohol finish the ride. Some soft chocolaty notes come out deep in the after-taste.
Mouthfeel: Full body, creamy almost syrupy. A very faint hint of alcohol warmth. A big, fat beast.
Overall: It’s quite a beer. A fat one, full of darker malt wonders. Good play of flavours and balanced but still relatively demanding - not for your everyday, but well worth your time, when you have that fat stout urge.
