25.4 oz bottle. Cork explodes into my hand before i can finish untwisting the cage. Ten minutes of foam control and things have settled enough to put down the bottle. Ebony with a big tan head. Nose is licorice, molasses, coffee, chocolate and hay. Medium to full body, lightened up by an airy tingle. Taste is blueberry, dark chocolate, espresso and grapefruit pith. Another decadent dessert stout from De Molen.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 maruno (6) - NETHERLANDS - MAY 24, 2012 does not count
Bottle from 22 june 2011. Dark black. Very low on carbonization, almost flat with obviously no head. Aroma is very complex with bitter chocolate, coffee, licorice and smoke. Nice bittersweet moving towards sweeter at the end of the bottle. Oily. A good beer aroma and taste-wise but it being almost flat is a bit disappointing.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Maris (545) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - MAY 16, 2012
From a 330ml bottle on 16/5/2012 (bottle number 841, brewed on 22 June 2010, bottled on 20 July 2010, ABV 10.2%). Pours black with no head. Has a huge aroma of dark chocolate, chico baby, stewed fruit, prunes, raisins, licorice, soy sauce and alcohol. The flavour is quite medicinal, with whisky notes and lingering slightly sour roasty bitterness dominating. But there’s also lots of chocolatey and fruity sweetness in there as well. Finishes with a dash of warming alcohol. The texture is very syrupy and the carbonation is typically low for the style. By the end of the bottle, the texture is almost chunky, with some peppery notes emerging. A very big, well balanced, enjoyable imperial.

Mouth is warm, big smoky, peat, bitter liquorice, burnt malts, roasted coffee. Finishes warm and smooth, bit of alcohol burn. Touch more of the freshness comes through at the front, and milk chocolate at the end, the further you get down the bottle. Enjoyable beer
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 luttonm (962) - Belgrade, SERBIA - MAY 11, 2012
750ml bottle from ’Only Good Beer’ in Budapest. Brewed 19 Sept 2010. Gorgeous black pour with oily tan head. Cherry wood, prune, red grape. caramel, tobacco. sour-dry bittering. Warming dark fruit, great hopping. Vinous, tannins, rich dark heavy stout. Great coating, sweet and is just right for this alc. Fantastic, and unique notes throughout. World class, I imagine this would be great both fresh and with some age on it (they say up to 25years, if you can wait).
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 corby112 (1904) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 2, 2012
Draft at Capones in Norristown, PA.
Pours pitch black and completely opaque with a two finger, frothy dark mocha head. Excellet retention only slowly fading into a thick, lasting ring. Large chunks of soapy lacing left behind. Looks amazing!
Deeply roasted dark malt aroma that doesn’t become burnt or acrid. Hints of toast, dark chocolate, roasted coffee bean and oatmeal along with subtle lactic cream and sweeter malt notes.
Medium bodied with a good balance of roasted malt, silky chocolate, sweet booze, lactic cream and subtle hops. Chewy and roasty that verges on being burnt but never tips over that edge. Lactic cream and sweeter chocolate notes balance things out. Bitter earthy hops with a touch of pine compliment the dark chocolate, roasted coffee bean and oatmeal. Complex, well balanced and easy to drink. Slight boozy swetness and heat toward the finish but overall the high abv is nicely masked.

Well, it doesn’t get any better than this! Nice appearance, pours dark brown with beige head and a good lacing. Complex aroma that includes roasted malt, chocoate and vanilla. Well balanced. Taste: just wow! long lasting sweety taste with a light bitter finish. Full bodied beer with a creamy texture. One of the best beers I have drunk so far, and I would highly recommand it.
