Huge grapefruity, treacle, dark chocolate, dark fruit nose. Unbelievable nose for an imperial stout. Well balanced mouth which shows lots of cascade hops and strawberries on top of the roasted malt, dark chocolate character. Very smooth and dangerously easy to drink. Fairly aggressive bitter finish. Amazingly well made beer.

It pours jet black with a dark brown head. Although the head is small, the head retention is quite good. There are aromas of dark chocolate and coffee. The initial flavors are sweet with chocolate, and then the bitterness of coffee and roast takes over. It has a full body with strong alcohol warming. Overall, this is a malt driven strong stout with minimal hops noticeable.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2016 Very dark intense colour. Not much foam. Beautiful dark smell with a lot of cacao, some caramel, some roast. Nice subtle carbonisation. Sweetness is far from overdone and only subtle. A lot of dark cacao. Caramel, coffee, some raisins, a little rye. Excellent balance. Fantastic stuff.

Pours thick and black with a thin tan head. Smells of dark malts and dried fruits. Tastes slightly of coffee, followed by rich dried fruits and chocolately malts. Overall a very well made stout, fairly balanced and has great mouth feel. Another great beer from De Molen.
