3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAY 15, 2010 After having 3 bottles of this beer I am starting to worry about the lack of carbonation. I get mocha, coffee, tabacco on the nose, taste follows it all the way through with bitter chocolate, some coffee notes and a nice warm finish. I love sipping this beer, I hope that I can find a bottle that has some carbonation to it...

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Sean, who went to Holland. Big liquorice nose, roast malt and touches of coffee. Heavy, heavy mouthfeel, loads of dark fruits. Luscious, coffee flavour. Soft carbonation. Long, complex finish. Awesome.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle from Mikkeller webshop. Black colour, lively beige foam head leaving lacing and aroma of roast malt, molasses, dark fruits, chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt with leather, coffee & dark chocolate, some nutty notes and lingering bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, warming boozy roast bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Brown, almost black beer with little brown head. Aroma has wood, liqueur, light smokiness and roasted malts. Flavor is sweetish with dark chocolate and roasted malts. Palate is soft and full. Finish has light bitterness. Decent stuff.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance is black as night, not much head to speak of, a slight beige foamy covering. Aroma- huge roastiness, rich chocolate cake, leather, cigar smoke, burnt fruitcake, fudge, vanilla hints, booze. Smells sublime. Taste- roasted malt, quite a bit of smokiness, espresso coffee, dark chocolate, burnt treacle, lengthy bitter finish. Mouthfeel is oily, and a bit clingy. Excellent.

I had a bottle from De Hopduvel, Gent, Belgium. Less malty comparing to Emelisse, White Label. Pours black with almost no head. Coffee aroma is much less than Struise, Cuvee Delphine and less than Emelisse White Label but still there.

33cl in teku. Aroma: lots of dark chocolate, grain coffee, a bit of roastiness and alcohol. Colour: black with brown/deep red reflections. Minimal head disappeared after a minute. Full body with wonderful, bitter finish. Overally a very good RIS.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
33cl bottle served in a snifter. Pours a dark brown/red colour with no head or carbonation. Looks oily and black when in the glass but held up to light you can see that the edges are red and you can see the sediment floating around. Aroma is powerful burnt malt and dark chocolate. Taste is very similar but with a nice glow of alcohol. Mouthfeel is surprisingly generous given the fact that it is not as black as most Imperial Stouts I have tried thus far. Overall the beer is very well balanced and gets quite sweet as it warms up. Definitely a sipper.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika, a while back. Bottle date 29.02.2012. Pitch black color, some offwhite brownish foam. High aroma intensity; roasted aromas, licorice, leather, malt, coffee, dried fruits and some toffee in the finish. Full body & high complexity. Some immediate sweetness, followed by high bitterness- balances well. Very enjoyable
