UPDATED: MAY 15, 2010 After having 3 bottles of this beer I am starting to worry about the lack of carbonation. I get mocha, coffee, tabacco on the nose, taste follows it all the way through with bitter chocolate, some coffee notes and a nice warm finish. I love sipping this beer, I hope that I can find a bottle that has some carbonation to it...

Black colour with a large, frothy, creamy tan head with a nice lacing. Aroma has toasty malts notes, coffee, strong licorice. Flavour is slightly sweet at the beginning, strong black coffee and licorice, wooden, roasty and a final moderate bittery with an aftertaste with a excellent duration. Very good one.

Bottled 22 Jan 15. Deep gluggy black, low carbonation with small beige head which quickly recedes. Truckloads of dark chocolate and espresso aromas, treacle, dank earthy hops, soy. Equally huge taste - molasses, coffee, leather, charred meat. Big 10% ABV is almost imperceptible. Just enough carbonation to counter the thick chewy body. Pretty good imperial stout but would like to try this with a bit more age on it.

Very dark brown color, huge brown head but with low retention. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, hops. Taste is full of cocoa, fruity hops, dark chocolate, oranges, roasted malt, coffee, Very thick and sticky. Slightly boozy. Long cocoa aftertaste. Respectable amount of hops and bitterness. Little bit rough around the edges, but still excellent.

750 ml bottle, thanks to RBC. Close to a year old now? First bottle I had of this was flat and tasted like a cloyingly sweet chocolate marshmallow. But this is not that. Dark brown pour with ring of khaki head. Aroma is equal parts sickly old garbage hops, marshmallow, coffee, chocolate. Minus the garbage, this is nice. Taste: coffee roast peppery bitterness, slight astringency. Sweet, bitter, with a garbagey old hop unpleasantness. Cant exactly hold that against the beer, but also cant excuse it. I mean, earlier on it was unpleasant in its own way, so pick your poison. Full body, oily slick texture. Overall: this is 90% awesome, 10% disgusting, in the balance passable.

Bottle from 2012. Almost black with a short lasting little brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, pine, dried fruits, smoke, soy sauce and coffee. Taste is medium bitter, medium sweet and light acidic. Body is full and texture is creamy.

Bottle 0.33l from Hoppiness in Koper. Dark thick liquid with big tan head. Very nice looking. Alcoholy, wooden, vanilla bean, cocoa aroma. Taste is very rich and oily, strong taste of cocoa and wood. Cocoa aftertaste that lasts forever. Syrupy. Very good one. Some hottness in finish.

Bottle from Saveur Bire. Cross-testing 2009 vintage with 2015 version. Low creamy, beige head, black body. Aroma of the 2015 is more distinct, coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla. 2009 version is leaner, more chocolate and vanilla. 2015 tastes of chocolate, roasted coffee beans, vanilla, spicy and hoppy. Mostly bitter and salt. 2009 has lost a lot of its carbonation. Its also sweeter in its taste and has more chocolate and vanilla. In conclusion its a great beer which I think is probably is at its best after 1-3 years.
