33 cl bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika. Pours spitch black with a small dark brown head that leaves quickly. Aroma of dark chocolate, dark coffee and som roasty stuff. Taste of dark coffee and a warm dark chocolate mouthfeel with an oily texture. Low bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. A complex and a great IS.

330 ml bottled 04/11/13, from Ammersin 5, Vienna.
Black, oily liquid, with a small, creamy, coffee-colored head.
Delicious aroma of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, liquorice, dark frutis, some smoke, even some fruity hops.
Tastes of espresso, liquorice, dark chocolate, cocoa powder, tobacco, dark fruits, some hops.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes smooth, with a subtle alcohol warmth, roasty-bitter, with liquorice, espresso, tobacco, cocoa.

Very tasty. Greatly balanced, dark and full, with a very well hidden alcohol. Drinks really smooth, also because of quite surprising amounts of hops, even noticeable in a 2 year old bottle. Among the best De Molen beers I’ve had.

Black colour with a large, frothy, creamy tan head with a nice lacing. Aroma has toasty malts notes, coffee, strong licorice. Flavour is slightly sweet at the beginning, strong black coffee and licorice, wooden, roasty and a final moderate bittery with an aftertaste with a excellent duration. Very good one.

Bottled 22 Jan 15. Deep gluggy black, low carbonation with small beige head which quickly recedes. Truckloads of dark chocolate and espresso aromas, treacle, dank earthy hops, soy. Equally huge taste - molasses, coffee, leather, charred meat. Big 10% ABV is almost imperceptible. Just enough carbonation to counter the thick chewy body. Pretty good imperial stout but would like to try this with a bit more age on it.

Very dark brown color, huge brown head but with low retention. Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, hops. Taste is full of cocoa, fruity hops, dark chocolate, oranges, roasted malt, coffee, Very thick and sticky. Slightly boozy. Long cocoa aftertaste. Respectable amount of hops and bitterness. Little bit rough around the edges, but still excellent.

750 ml bottle, thanks to RBC. Close to a year old now? First bottle I had of this was flat and tasted like a cloyingly sweet chocolate marshmallow. But this is not that. Dark brown pour with ring of khaki head. Aroma is equal parts sickly old garbage hops, marshmallow, coffee, chocolate. Minus the garbage, this is nice. Taste: coffee roast peppery bitterness, slight astringency. Sweet, bitter, with a garbagey old hop unpleasantness. Can’t exactly hold that against the beer, but also can’t excuse it. I mean, earlier on it was unpleasant in its own way, so pick your poison. Full body, oily slick texture. Overall: this is 90% awesome, 10% disgusting, in the balance passable.
