33cl bottle into glass. Lille. Appearance: black beer with little white head. Aroma: coffee vanilla, oak, chocolate. Taste: sweet, slightly bitter finish. Palate: full body, low carbonation, thick texture. Overall, excellent flavor and aroma. Good texture. Would have preferred a little more body, but this is a fantastic beer.

33cl bottle shared at CBC Covent garden, London. It pours a dark brown color with large beige head. Aroma is full rich coffee roastiness, light tangy red berries and licorice. Taste is medium swet and lightly bitter and powdery with more coffee, espresso light red berries and red wine. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Overall, balanced and excellent

Bottle at CBC CB. It pours jet black with a decent beige head. The nose is rich roast, dirt, stinky espresso coffee, earth and bounty bar. The taste is smooth, rich roast, charred wood, dirty coffee, vanilla, pepper, mild acidity, earth and dirt with an earthy finish. Medium + body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Decent.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Matteo for this geriatric! Pours deep black-brown with a big, frothy khaki head. The nose holds burnt malts, damp earth, moderate coffee. Medium to big sweet flavor with some alcohol boost, sugary chocolate, more earth, mocha. Full bodied with lively carbonation. Quite warm on the finish, some baking cocoa, roast, scorched earth, raisins. Good stuff.

UPDATED: SEP 27, 2015 The reason of celebrating my 1000th rate with this beer is that the regular Hel & Verdoemenis is my No.1 beer so far with 4.6 score (together with Kaapse Bea and BrewDog/Mikkeller I hardcore you), and because this beer was brewed specially for the Borefts Festival in 2013 which was my first beer festival, my entry to the craft beer world and the beginning of rating beers. So thank you De Molen, you deserve my respect.:) And thank you Balazs for inviting me there, explaining a lot about beer, and making me addicted.:) 33cl bottle at home from de Molen beer shop, Bodegraven, poured into Borefts 2013 festival glass. Body is pitch black, head is medium, beige, medium lasting, good lacing. Nose is dark roasted coffee, toast and hint of herb liqueur. Flavor is more coffee, coal, roasted peanuts, toast, tons of dark chocolate. Some ash comes to the foreground, then more dark(er) chocolate, more dark roasted coffee, toast again now with more bread profile, light herbs, vanilla and of course licorice. Taste is light sweetness which may be more but probably covered with the tons of roasty heavy bitterness, and a hint of coffeeish sourness is also present. Finish is long lasting roasty heavy bitter, which is quite simple but perfect. Alcohol is completely hidden at the beginnig, later light alcohol warmth appears. Full body, oily and sticky texture, soft carbonation. Quite easy dessert beer which is great for an ABV 10% brew. Very strong flavor, tasty, perfect balance. I can’t compare it with the regular Hel & Verdoemenis but that may be just as good as this one. I’m glad that I’ve chosen this for my 1000th rating.

Bottle at a big tasting (Nörprovning 2015). Smell of coffee, dark malts and dark bitter chocolate. Similar taste with some roasted sugar. The coffee is very dominant.

Bottle thanks to BenH. Appearance - dark brown with a thin head. Nose - green coffee beans again. Taste - the same again, light chocolate note. Palate - medium bodied a bit sweet, finish a bit cloying. Overall - really one-dimensional coffee.

Thick dark brown, more lacing than head. Spicy roast, lean green. Initial taste is lean bitter, peppery and more green bean coffee action. Bitter finish. Sweet enough.
