33cl, as Hel & Verdoemenis ’MacAllan Barrel Aged’, new exclusive Dutch brew Anno 2011, from Brouwerij de Molen Bodegraven, complex Stout, roasted/alcoholic and slightly woody/spicy, not too heavy, very balanced, hazy, nearly no head, very good brew, yet expensive!

33 cl bottle shared by beastiefan2k. The pour is a black brown cordovan with a smallish off white head. Bottled on Sep 19th, 2011. The is Aroma dark roast malt, earthy, mineral, and a touch of the wood and whisky. The taste is light sweet malt, molasses and floral honey, roast, and finishes with earthy and sweet caramel. The finish has an interesting burnt soy, which was more pleasant than that sounds. The palate is heavy bodied, spirit like, mouth coating, and finishes dry showing some booze in the long finish. Scotch was well managed though, didn’t necessarily overpower. Nice one, thanks Eugene.

Pour opaque black, with no head at all. Nice rich aroma of chocolate, roasted coffee, a bit dark fruits, and plenty of oak. The whiskey isn’t as dominating as the misto or turkey B.A. Taste is nice and sweet, from All the chocolate, with a more dry and bitter end, from all the mocca. Medium-full body, with very little carbonation.

Sample at Borefts Beer Festival 2011. Pours a pitch black beer with a weak beige head. The aroma is malt, roasted, licorice and coffee. The flavor follows the nose with additional chocolate. The palate is sweetness. Overall a really good and balanced beer with some complex notes. [Rating #2600]

This is not an improvement on the H&V, but it comes close. The MacAllan barrels leave a pungent whiskey aroma and slightly sour taste, but the foundational H&V dark roasted malts control the burn.

Tap @ BBF. Motor oil black color, frothy brown head. Aroma has tons of very enjoyable finnish liquorice, hidden behind a smooth veil of vanilla and a seasoning of smoky notes with some pepper. Very dark maple syrup as well. Taste has the same characteristics as the aroma, with a liitle more syrupy sweetness.

On tap @ BBF 2011. The aroma has roast, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, whiskey, smoke. Oily, black coloured beer with no head. The taste is quite bitter, has some sweetness, chocolate, soy sauce, whisky, roast. Smooth, nice, full.
