Bottled on 9/19/11. Poured medium-deep brown with a smoked tan head. The aroma was on the big side, with sweet whiskey, coffee, and burnt cocoa leading.. accents of vanilla, black pepper, and a kiss of smoke.. balance was excellent. The flavor found well-roasted coffee, licorice, and toasty cocoa at the core, with well-integrated peppery notes and smoky whiskey laced throughout.. warm through the finish, but just the right level of warm.. awesome stuff! Heavier-bodied with low-moderate carbonation.. a touch oily (a good thing).. the barrel played very well with the base beer.. loved it!

Bottle. Brown pour with a kaki head. Mild boozy bouquet. The scotch just dominates the beer. Mild dark roasted malt and espresso back beats. A bit thin in the body. Good mouthfeel.

330 mL bottle. A little transparency to a black body. Big khaki head. Smells nutty, caramel, vanilla. Boozy with some hops. Very light scotch. Scotch flavor is light too. Caramel. Milk chocolate. Boozy with a light whiskey finish. Medium body. Not that rich. Nice, though.

Bottle shared during Scopey’s 5K tasting - Croydon, London. Sourced from Kris Wines. Pours black-brown, clear, with a light, beige cream head. The nose holds mild burnt wood, torched marshmallows. Big sweet flavor with rich milk chocolate, more burnt marshmallows, moderate wood. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with plenty of sugary dark malts, further toasted marshmallow, nice dark chocolate. Very solid overall.

Totally black colour on the body, with head consisting of bubbles, bursting quickly and leaving a thin line around the glass.
Very nice aroma, penty of chocolate, whiskey, iodium, vanilla, more dark chocolate.
Nice taste too, again plenty of chocolate, light alcohol notable, hints of the whiskey, chocolate cake, vanilla, dark fruits, prunes.
Medium thin body, it could use a bit more. Soft carbonation.

Pitch-black color, brown head. Aromas of bourbon, alcohol, choxolate. Taste is sweet, with bourbon, chocolate and alcohol at first, with some plums and vanilla backing up. Medium to full body with medium carbonation.

Bottle to celebrate me turning 30. Black with minimal head. Aroma of chocolate, licorice, oak, whisky. Taste is similar, licorice, oak, whisky, chocolate. Sweet and a little bitter.

Black, no foam!!! Nose is chocolate, coffee, whisky, caramel. Medium flat body. Taste is sweet with a bitter roasty end.

Bottle at Scope 5K, thanks to Leighton. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is dark chocolate, earth, rocky road, some acidity, wood and light whisky action. The taste is rich, roasty, toast, earth, dark chocolate, raisin, plum, cherry and molasses, with only a whisper of whisky. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Pretty tasty and nice depth. Good.

Bottle shared at Scopey’s 5000th rate. I think thanks to Leighton but not sure. Black pour with a lightly tanned head which quickly disappears. Nose is full of whisky spice and milky chocolate. Quite a bit of vanilla, full of juicy raisins and has a hint of smoke. Complex but balanced nose and it’s good. Taste has plenty of dark fruit focus - sultana, raisin, prunes, followed by strong vanilla, milk chocolate and roasty coffee. Spice subtle on the finish. Mainly sweet with a little bitterness on the back end. A touch thin and lacks a little depth. A decent beer, I was probably expecting a little more from this barrel treatment

Faded black with a light tan covering.
Nose is dark malts, cocoa powder, dark toffee fudge, earthy, chocolate biscuit, subtle BA whiskydom.
Taste comprises mellow chocolate, light spice, subtle scotch, earthy, molasses, brown sugars.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation.
Ok stuff, the alchohol is well integrated, the BA effect subtle but for me not the best in this series, lacks depth for ABV.
