Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, soy sauce, roasted malt, bourbon, and some vanilla. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of peated smoke, wood, vanilla, and bourbon, as well as medium notes of roasted malt, coffee, and soy sauce, leading to a dry, roasted, and somewhat alcoholic finish.

Bottle 18 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours an opaque dark brown with an orange hue and a rough light brown head. Lovely barrel aroma and hard roast malts. Solid body, rather low in carbonation, hard roasted malts and lots of chocolate again with a barrel edge. No real bitterness but quite a boozy and warming finish. 250810

Bottled@The Chriso Rock The Roof Down pre-GBBF shindig. Pitch black colour, tiny brownish head. Aroma is quite much brandy/sherrylike with also some liquorice, chocolate, mild vanilla as well as some alcohol. Flavour is liquorice, some vanilla, mild cocoa, chocolate with also some sweet alcohol. Finishes in a quite brandy/sherrylike burn. Still rather much of the Hel & Verdoeminis left, which makes this very drinkable.

Bottled, thanks Baggio! Near black, small head. Rich coffee aroma. Mid sweet with full body, oily dense mouthfeel. Lots of chocolate and coffee, some whiskey. Mildy warming with seemless mouthfilling flavours. Top stout!

Opaque black beer, little ta head. Dark malt and oak nose. Light soft palate, semi dry. Sweet dark malt. Sweet whisky and a trace of coffee. Subtle oak. A little dark chocolate. Minerals in the finish which is semi dry. Very good indeed. Bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from Pibar, Lausanne, 11% ABV, bottled 28Jan2013
Black color with brownish creamy head. Nice aroma, roasted malt, cardboard, tobacco, coffee, hint of Bourbon, alcohol. Thick body, round mouthfeel; it has an excellent flavor of roasted malt and dark chocolate, revealing all the skills of De Molen with dark malts; it has a moderate sweetness that well balances the strong bitterness; the flavor is completed by the presence of leather, tobacco, chocolate cookies and light Bourbon vanilla; the final is warming, with some alcohol, but less complex.
Wonderful.
