Truly excellent, even with my reluctance to use superlatives. Gorgeous blend of flavors, waiting for you to pick them out--vanilla and hazelnut edges were my favorite, with all the attraction of the underlying imperial stout. Huge lacing, hazy and opaque body. Perhaps the finish was less dimensional than possible, but this is unquestionably awesome. (on tap at brewery)

Draught@CPH BeerFest2010. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is toffee, coffee, roasted malts, mild burnt notes as well as some slight vanilla and alcoholic notes as well. Flavour is coffee, some roasted malts, mild toffee as well as vanilla. Quite thick, and bodied. Yumyum.

On Tap at TAP 1, Copenhagen 08/05/2010 Bourbon aroma. Beige head. Black smooth on the palate and strong in alcohol with a slightly dry coffee roast finish.

Rating #2300. Bottle. Pitch black body with a creamy longlasting tan head. The aroma is chocolate, bourbon, raisins, prune, sweet caramel, light coffee and liquorice. Very nice. Oh wow. The flavour is a complex mix of sweet tobacco, chocolate, bourbon, warming alcohol, vanilla, oak, liquorice and dark ripe fruit. Perfect! Creamy textured. Long bourbon, sweet roasted finish. Fantastic!

Bottle shared by RangledeFreak. Pours a black colour with a tan head. Very nice aroma of bourbon, loads of dark chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, oak and roasted malt. The flavour is even better, smooth and well balanced with notes of sweet roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Very nice and complex!

Draught at Copenhagen Beer Festival. Very black, dark brown head. Huge milk chocolate aroma. Sweet and sofrt with creamy milk chocolate and bourbon slowly growing into the picture. Not really complex as such, but the flavour intensity, the seemlessness and the softness grabs me by the tonsils and makes this beer stand out even in the toughest of crowds.

Tap @ Copenhagen 2010. Black color, short head. Big coffee aroma, chocolat, licorice, whisky. Full and rich taste like in all de Molens. The full and rich flavor is what I particularly like in Menno’s brews. I see that I usually give relatively high ratings for his brews, even compared to others. Maybe a bit chauvinistic, and probably the regional availability which is good for me, but probably not for others, scores extra points (instead of rareness like westy12, which is horribly overrated). When can i get a de Molen subscription, which provides me every month with the latest de Molen goodies please?! :D

Sampled at Copenhagen Beerfestival 2010. Pitch black with a cappuchino colored head. All out bourbon at first, but give it a moment and the chocolate and coffee flavors comes lurking after. Very nice if you like BA-stuff. The sweetness is almost cloying, but it works in this beer.

Black with a small off-white head. Aroma of bourbon, wine, licorice and chocolate. Sweet licorice flavour with strong bourbon notes

Bottle 250ml.

Clear dark black color with a average to large, creamy to frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, dark chocolate, bitter chocolate, vanilla, alcohol, wood notes, light whisky. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, chocolate, vanilla notes. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20100507]
