3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Reviewed from notes, 2013 released bottle tasted 03/07/2013, thanks to jeffo. Pours black, small white head which fades quickly. Aroma is sweet corn bourbon, vanilla chocolate, deep roast notes. Taste is sharp sweet caramel bourbon, a bit cheap, chocolate and bitter roast. Thick palate, smooth. Tasty, but not one of my favorites in the series, the barrel doesn’t quite do it for me.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle courtesy of Johan, thanks! Pours midnight black with zero head but leaves some lacing on the glass. Aroma is rich with malt, roasted grain, and whiskey notes. Taste is dark roasted coffee, roasted malt, and bourbon which all mix together with impressive balance. Oily in a good way for the mouth feel. Really digging this.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle @ home, liberated from De Molen. The pour’s deep brown. Red highlights. Small tan head. The aroma’s initially full of chocolate and vanilla, but strong notes of plum and raisin bread intervene. Rich dark fruits. Plenty of yule log cake, mild spiciness. Orange peel. Mild after dinner liqueur booziness. The taste is bruised red fruits. Chocolate covered strawberry, dried cranberry. Fruit-steeped liqueur. Spiced chocolate cake rich malt profile. Slight roastiness, accents of charred wood. Mildly spicy, full finish. Interesting chocolate/fruit profile. Very unique and different from the other variants of this beer. The beer’s full, oily. The booziness is well restrained, but does build through the duration of the bottle. Overall, this actually worked quite well. Great stuff.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
02-MAR-2013, bottle @home, from Høkeren, shared with Morten.
Black with low light brown head. Try to pour it from a height but still almost no head.
Bourbon aroma with sweet roast, chocolate, and milk.
Taste the same.
Low on carbonation with quite full body.
Straight after a boutbon county stout this is somewhat thin, rough and alcoholic...
...still a fantastic brew with wonderfull bourbon-stout stuff.
Should have reversed the order of the two drinks.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle, bottled in January 2013. Very fresh. Aroma is boozy, bourbon and incredibly roasted and well balanced. Oak is present in the aroma, but the bourbon is definitely overwhelming but but overpowering. Flavor is very sweet, full of bourbon oak flavors. Very well balanced, great sipper. This is one hell of a great beer. Awesome!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
180 ml bottle courtesy of Marsiblursi. 2010 vintage. Pours pitch black with a small bubbly dark mocha head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace in the glass. Smell is sweet with roasted malts, alcohol, banillafudge, glue, milk chocolate, resinous wood, leather, burnt caramel, butterscotch, lemon zest and moist soil. Taste is is sweet, slightly bitter and malty with roasted malts, vanilla fudge, bourbon, alcohol, vanilla fudge, glue, roasted coconuts, acetone, lemon zest, toffee, leather, sweet liquorice candy, lemon zest, moist tobacco and hints of dried apricots.Mouthfeel is intense, tiny sticky sweet, very tiny oily bitter, boozy and full bodied. Finish is sweet and malty with roasted malts, sweet liquorice candy, sweetened coffee, vanilla fudge, leather, resinous wood and alcohol. Good but this has probably lost some of its qualities during the aging.
