On tap at GBBF 2013. Dark black, not much of a head, relatively low carbonation. Quite a silky mouth feel. Lots going on, milky chocolate, burnt roasty bitterness in finish almost like the slightly burnt bits at the edge of a fruit cake, a little bit of fruit (currants/berries). Very good beer.

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2013 Bottle. Dark viscous looking pour. Small head. Chocolate malts and bold bourbon emerge in this. Slightly drying. Thick and delicious.

Barwa czarna nieprzejrzysta. Aromat to bardzo przyjemne połączenie kawy, wanilii, gorzkiej czekolady oraz palonego słodu. W smaku podobnie jak w aromacie głównie czekolada z wanilia. Wyczuwalna jest również whisky oraz palone słody. Mimo wysokiej zawartości alkoholu jest on praktycznie niewyczuwalny. Podsumowując jest to genialne piwo!

Gravity at GBBF 2013 named ’Hel & Verdoemenis Special’ but barman informed me it was the Wild Turkey Barrel aged version. Colour is opaque very dark brown, tan head. Nose is alcoholic, orange liqueur, sherry wine, dark chocolate, little bourbon, christmas cake, caramel, dried fruit. Taste is dark fruit, prune, Christmas cake, sherry, roasted malt, dark chocolate, touch of bourbon barrel. Complex yet beautifully balanced unlike so many American barrel aged whiskey bombs.

Bottle from mane liquor. Pitch black pour with small bubbles on top. Lacing is solid. Nose is very molasses driven with dark chocolate and tiny hint of vanilla. Maybe some pepper as it warns. Taste is really good. Quite balanced with licorice, oak and bitter chocolate combining nicely. Alcohol hidden exceptionally well. Bourbon notes creep in towards the end as it warms. This is an awesome beer. Enough said! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2013 Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours black as the night with no head. Just a few bubbles which pop up. Nose shows heavy pepper and chocolate, loads of molasses. Really quite oaky. Slight vanilla in there. Smells very good. Taste is very balanced compared to what I was expecting. Heavy oak, silky vanilla, spice, dry cocoa powder, liquorice. As it warms it gets more chocolatey with some bourbon influence to it. Drinks very well and a very pleasant warming on the finish. Top quality

From cask at Gbbf 2013. Black with limited head. Nice vanilla and espresso, potent in both directions and nicely balancing. Chocolate and marcipane. A masterpiece.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2014 Black with light foam. Aroma is roasted sweetness, bourbon smell. Roast is the big flavour here; as it warms the sweetness comes out to play. And booze. Palate is a lingering roastiness. Overall, the roast balances better with the barrel ageing than the original. But very boozy!
