This guy is super tasty. Tons of toffee, toasted coconut, vanilla, cocoa, and dark fruit. A bit of a tinge of soy sauce in the back end and slightly on the thin side for 13% but overall wow this is good.

Bottle @ home. Almost flat pour with just a few brown bubbles. Smells of fudge, bourbon, and vanilla. Mild ash, some graham cracker, cinnamon, roasted malt, and a hint of smoke. Really nice fudge, chocolate cake, and tootsie roll character. Quite sweet on the palate. Mild peat and smoke, roast, and coffee. Plenty of bourbon and vanilla as well. Pretty damn solid.

Bottle shared by martjoobolut, thanks! Very dark brown, tan head. Nose had roasty malt, wood, bourbon, alcohol, coffee, licorice. Taste - roast, coffee, chocolate, sweetness, wood, bourbon, tobacco hints, resin and alcohol in the finish. Full mouthfeel, smooth, creamy texture. Lovely.

0,33L bottle, bottled 19.11.2013 (so this one is 2013 vintage, 11% ABV). Pours black with brown head; the head doesn’t stay. Aroma is intense dark chocolate, whiskey, and roast. Taste: heavy, bourbon, dark chocolate, roast, caramel, and nice alcohol warmth. Overall: great beer. I drank it alongside the regular version and cuvee; I think it’s better than regular version, but not really as good (and complex) as cuvee.

pours clear dark brown with a creamy beige head, good retention and lacing. burnt hazelnuts, strong woodsy bourbon, cacao-plenty, some chocolate powdery notes, roasted coffee, touch of acidity, warming booze and pepper, some sweetness - burnt caramel and chocolate syrup. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily and a bit sticky, grassy-coffee-lightly resinous and tannic finish. tasty and very good.

Pours a really dark brown with a small beige head that leaves OK lacing. Aroma is of chocolate, caramel and buttery toasts. Really nice and while hinting at the barrel it isn’t too hot. Taste is of roasted malt, bourbon, caramel and pure chocolate/cacao nibs (or maybe coffee). A little wet cardboard, nothing bad though. Big but never cloying. Body is full, mouthfeel almost silky. Carbonation is higher than expected and alcohol tingles a little. Really nice!

Sometimes it’s hard to pick a beer, even when you know exactly what you have available and want. Not today as I knew exactly what I wanted to celebrate number 3000. The beer that has consistently been the Dutch number one ironically had consistently been elusive... Until it was sitting right there on my French Saveur Bière webshop. Twist of fate? Alas, this pitch black beer greets you, shakes your hand and then punches you in the face big time. In a good way. Yes, that’s a thing now. Thicker malts than I remember I had for a long time, a delicious barrel aged sweetness that doesn’t thin down the body for a chance. But it’s the taste that instantly reassured me this was the only right choice for my beer milestone celebration. Rich yet never sharp, thick but not cloying, sweetness but concentrated rather than simple, chocolate yet with elegance and most importantly a barrel aging that really lifts the beer. I enjoy it over the ’standard’ H&V even and that pretty much never happens for me. This, in the end, could have gone only two ways: shattered dreams or wet ones. And it certainly was the latter for me. To 1000 more delicious beer dreams and realities. Proost!

A deep dark stout with almost no head. In aroma, a rather peated chocolate with light woody notes. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate malt with milkey notes.

Pitch black little/no head. Nose is sweet and slightly roasted with some barrel notes. Taste is liqueur, sweet dried fruits, roasted/smoked malt and a hint of booze. Perfect viscous body. Real nice beer as usual from De Molen.

Bottle pour opaque black. Nose dark fruit, some roast, mild barrel. Taste sweet up front, some chocolate, and very mild wild turkey late palate. Nice roasty finish mixed with a little booze
