Back of the bottle reads 07/01/14. This was poured into a mini snifter. The appearance poured like jet fuel and had a dark brown color close to black color with a slim concave little head. Trickling light lacing roams around the glass. The smell started off with a sharp bourbon sweet/light hot weaving some light cocoa and coffee. The taste was sweet through the bourbon and then the cocoa and coffee combine nicely. A sharp yet sticky bourbon to coffee aftertaste leads into a sticky finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sipping quality about it. The carbonation was pretty mild but that didnít bother me as I look at the date. Smooth roasty coffee tones roll over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a superb bourbon barrel RIS that I would love to have again.

33cl bottle at home; as H&V Bourbon Barrel Aged. Pitch black with almost no head. Full body with low carbonation. Quite sweet with subtle bitter tones. Roasted malts, bourbon, alcohol, black coffee, ripe dark fruits and brown sugar. A tasty BA brew.

Thanks to Zenkis! 2+ yrs cellaring. Starts with impressive standard IMP qualities - intense dark roasted malts, quite noticeable bit harsh (in a good way) wild turkey BA, coffee, oak, licorice. Quite intense sweetness with moderate bitterness, bit sourish hints. Too much yeast sediments in bottle bit lowers this one. Otherwise - awesome sippable brew.

Received this bottle in a trade with BenH, muchos gracis! Pours an incontestable black with a moderate mocha head which soon recedes to a bubbly layer. Sweet molasses, vanilla, creme brulee, dark chocolate and hints of roastiness in the aroma. Taste is somewhat hot at first but rather pleasant; vanilla, milk chocolate, cocoa powder, coffee and slight burnt sugar. Full bodied with a sticky mouthfeel.

Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with bourbon booze, herb/fruit. Taste was super bourbon and vegemite, quite a barrage of flavours. Complex beer. Quality, but just didnít seem to balance the array of flavours

2014 bottle (10% ABV), with thanks to bytemesis. The kid is in bed, the wife is out of town, and Iím enjoying the quiet of the evening by contemplating some hell and damnation. Pours near black with dense mocha head that dissipates in short order to a ring of bubbles. Nose begins with an off-putting metallic note (would be a 9 but for that), but that gets crowded out by dark fruit, berries, rich creamy milk chocolate spiked with vanilla and unrefined molasses. Like a bowl of luscious fruit covered in boozy chocolate syrup. Once in the mouth, this is both less and more than the nose. First is the gasoline. Big harsh alcohol element which on the first sip made me gasp/exhale in a manner not unlike the drunk in Peteís Dragon (they just donít make kids shows like they used to). This burns. The burn is followed by some tannic (I presume) astringency and then a heavy roast coffee character. Still sweet up front and still bringing with it those dark fruits, but thatís quickly overpowered by the harsher elements. Palate: full body, thick viscous (between syrupy and chewy) texture, soft carbonation. Overall: This one is all Jekyll and Hyde. Shot of bourbon chasing a 50/50 shot of espresso/chocolate syrup.
