33 cl. bottle, shared. As Hel & Verdoemenis Bourbon Barrel Aged. Pitch black with a creamy, tanned head. Roasted aroma with vanilla, chocolate, coffee, caramel, a sweet, alcohol dense and wooden note. Liquorice, herbal hops and sweet tobacco. Wow! this is great! Taste is sweet and roasted. Full body with an oily texture and a soft carbonation. Long lasting roasted finish with bourbon barrel and a rich, roasted note. World class, excellent experience. A rare 4.3 from me.

2/7/13 bottle.

Look: Pours with thick, large, mocha head. Slow to medium retention speed, stickier big bubbles break down - they mostly form lacing. Leaves a thick but solid layer, good amount of lacing through. Dark, dark brown, no living light can penetrate it.

Smell: Cacao, fat, full, stuffy as fuck. Milk chocolate with very well represented bourbon oak are the dominant notes. Salty, mineral burned soy sauce, but good incorporation into roasted, chocolate heavy malt. Light alcohol to detect.

Taste: Salty, medium intense molasses start. Also very light acidity that does it good. It continues into mostly milk chocolate with some roast and burned caramel medium-heavy sweetness. But this gets quickly dominated with medium to heavy honey bourbon oak with a noticeable alcohol spike and ends with medium to heavy coffee, cappuccino bitterness. Late in the after some coconut notes star to flow around. The taste is a lot less stuffy than the nose.

Mouthfeel: Full, medium heavy body, solid, creamy with some alcohol warming.

Overall: As itís none-barreled version, itís quite a beer. A fat one, full of darker malt wonders, but this time with a very strong bourbon presence, maybe a bit too much for my taste. Itís a demanding beer, but well worth your time.

Aroma: Big bourbon and vanilla notes with toasted brown sugar and caramel Appearance: thick dark brown with thin layer of tan head Taste: incredibly smooth and sweet bourbon flavor with vanilla, oak, licorice and tobacco Overall: now this is what you want in a barrel aged imperial stout-prominent bourbon flavor that is velvety in texture and has a complex array of sweet layers

2013 11.2-oz bottle. The scent of thick fudge and molasses wafts up from the snifter with some black licorice bite in the background and a hint of aged bourbon and cherries. Flat black pour with a light tan ring and lacing. Dark chocolate brownies dominate the taste with very mellow, subtle bourbon, a bit of dry oak and vanilla, and a semi-sweet milk chocolate finish. Medium body that is a bit watery and is much lighter than a typical imperial stout; very smooth mouthfeel. Overall, the beerís decadent taste is quite good but could benefit from a more pronounced whiskey flavor, and the weak body doesnít do it any favors. Still, itís a decent brew.
