One of these small handy bottles that De Molen have begon to make. A tribute to sunday evenings. Bottle from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. The pour is all black with a neat frothy brown head with a creamy and lasting attitude. The nose is pretty low key but unmistakely imperial stout with all the goodies that follow. Burned malts and coffee, some mild vanilla and dark chocolate and some wooden oak notes and raisins. Finaly the light touch of alcohol and whiskey - Its not too much its pretty perfectly balanced imo. The mouthfeel is huge and creamy it fills your mouth out to every single corner and spreads slowly its contains dancing the waltz with your taste buds. The taste is nice and huge witha finish with clear greeting from the whisky barrels and some bitterness from the hops. The taste containes so much nice stuff as in the aroma. Absolutely some of the best from DeMolen that I have had until now. Really nice stuff

The aroma is full of malts, alcohol, cola and caramel. It has obviously been aged in bourbon barrels. Exciting aroma. The taste is also very exciting and interesting. Extremely well balanced, which is hard when you have this many flavors which have to interact. Really good taste. Overall this beer is phenomenal. Lots of flavor, intense and incredibly exciting. It fells like the beer is saturating your taste buds.

UPDATED: OCT 6, 2013 Have sampled bottles of the Feb 2011 batch several times now - one at Kulminator in Antwerp and two in ’t Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Pours black and syrupy with a minimal head. Aroma is molasses, toasted malt and chocolate and you can pick up a hint of the WIld Turkey. Feels sticky and sweet in the mouth with a lot of character - a delightful combination of licorice, chocolate, toffee, molasses with a hint of coffee and a suggestion of whiskey. This is the fine liqueur of beers, perfect for after dinner sipping.

2013 Edition
Bottle of the 2013 edition. Solid black with a good chocolate head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, raisins, toasted coconut, hint of oak and booze. Oily mouthfeel, thick and sweet on the palate with a slightly boozy bitter finish. Taste is bourbon, chocolate, toasted coconut, dark fruits, molasses. Doesn’t seem as complex as the previous version and is definitely boozier - perhaps this needs a little aging.

Bottle. Smells of my mum’s xmas cake mix. Flavour is complex - wood, fruit, leather, whisky, sweet. Excellent.

almost black colour, 3-4 cm long lasting creamy brown head; aroma of coffee, chocolate, roastedness, some cognac and alcohol; taste is the same: roasted coffeebeans and sugar, chocolate, and cognac; sweet and bitter simultaneously with an excellent ballance; perfect imperial stout, I would score it as 5.0 if I liked stouts :-) it is quite surprising that it has only 4.13 at the time of tasting...maybe nobody likes sotuts?... :-))
