Bottle from Lassem. Thanks so much! Deep black pour. Chocolate aroma hits hard followed by whiskey, oak, molasses, and roasted malt. Flavor reminds me of those little chocolates filled with tiny amounts of whiskey in them. This is remarkably delicious. Great all around!

Bottle at de molen. Thanks to the brewery for holding on to a few of these for consumption at the bar. Hands down best beer I have ever had. The flavours were so complex and so good. The flavours from the aging in barrels come through so well balanced and just tastes so good. Highly recommend this beer if u get honoured with the chance to try this one

UPDATED: OCT 6, 2013 Have sampled bottles of the Feb 2011 batch several times now - one at Kulminator in Antwerp and two in ’t Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Pours black and syrupy with a minimal head. Aroma is molasses, toasted malt and chocolate and you can pick up a hint of the WIld Turkey. Feels sticky and sweet in the mouth with a lot of character - a delightful combination of licorice, chocolate, toffee, molasses with a hint of coffee and a suggestion of whiskey. This is the fine liqueur of beers, perfect for after dinner sipping.

2013 Edition
Bottle of the 2013 edition. Solid black with a good chocolate head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is bourbon, chocolate, raisins, toasted coconut, hint of oak and booze. Oily mouthfeel, thick and sweet on the palate with a slightly boozy bitter finish. Taste is bourbon, chocolate, toasted coconut, dark fruits, molasses. Doesn’t seem as complex as the previous version and is definitely boozier - perhaps this needs a little aging.

Bottle. Smells of my mum’s xmas cake mix. Flavour is complex - wood, fruit, leather, whisky, sweet. Excellent.

Pours dark black with almost no head. Taste is very complex, sweet roasted malts, wood, whiskey, chocolate, coffee and licorish. Long, long finish. Almost perfect.

A real piece of art this one. The taste is so special and rich that it keeps developing in your mouth for multiple seconds. Truly delicious and wonderful.

almost black colour, 3-4 cm long lasting creamy brown head; aroma of coffee, chocolate, roastedness, some cognac and alcohol; taste is the same: roasted coffeebeans and sugar, chocolate, and cognac; sweet and bitter simultaneously with an excellent ballance; perfect imperial stout, I would score it as 5.0 if I liked stouts :-) it is quite surprising that it has only 4.13 at the time of tasting...maybe nobody likes sotuts?... :-))
