4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 joes (66) - Oirschot, - MAR 12, 201104/03/2011 @ ACBF (draught). Black beer with small beige head. Wow, what an aroma: roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and mocca, whisky/wood, very complex. And tasting is even better and more complex: roasted malts, chocolate, wood, spices, whisky, alcohol and more. Absolutely my personal favourite this festival, I went back for it another two times!

33 cl bottle (11%). Bottled on 28.01.2013.
Pours pitch black color with a small beige head. Aroma of bourbony peat, lots of dark chocolate, some oak notes, vanilla, faint dark berry notes, tar and dark roasted malts. Flavor of roasted malts, caramelly and a bit syrupy notes, dark chocolate, faint vanilla notes, licorice and molasses. Quite smooth palate and surprisingly soft on the nose too. Complex, yet balanced imperial stout. Excellent.

33 cl bottle (11%) @ home. Bottled 28.01.2013, BBE 28.01.2038. Thanks olio!
Aroma is sweet with cocoa, some hay, slightly salty licorice, vanilla and hints of whiskey. Flavour has strong woody notes, whiskey, vanilla, salty licorice, peat and hints of soy sauce. Salty notes get stronger towards the end of the glass. Whiskey is somewhat stinging on the flavour side, but rather good stuff still.

Pours black with a finger of tan head. Aroma of chocolate, figs, coffee, muscovado, barrel (port and bourbon), light vanilla. Taste is sweet port with an alcohol and coffee bitter finish. Body is full and creamy. Out of all the variants, by far my favorite.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 jerohen (1865) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - MAY 18, 2013
Bottled from Biernavigatie.nl. Opaque black, small but lasting brown head. Malty nose, lots of vanilla, coffee, chocolate, not very strong but very complex. Tastes exactly like it smells, very complex, lots of vanilla, malts, quite low on hops and carbonation. Bourbon itself is not that apparant, it’s mainly the associated flavors such as vanilla. Absolute perfect velvety mouthfeel. This is supposed to be a sipper, but it’s so nice i just keep drinking it. Beforehand i would have never thought this beer could live up to its reputation, but it did. Phenomenal brew, one of the Molen’s absolute best.
4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ansalon (211) - SWEDEN - MAY 11, 2013
Bottle from Mikkeller & Friends bottle shop. Pours a pitch black with a brown head. Swirling it around in the snifter leaves a beautiful oily sticky trace. Aroma just assaults you with bourbon, vanilla, coffee, chocolate, peat, brown sugar, roasted almonds, some petrol. Mouthfeel is creamy, very nicely textured. Taste is complex yet fantastically well-balanced with roasted coffe beans, vanilla, peated almonds, vanilla, dark dried fruit, honey and tones of asphalt, chipotle sweet tones without the bite, charred bacon. Sublime really!!

Zeebra Extreme Beer Festival - 11% - Black colour. Aroma of bourbon vanilla. Texture is smooth and silky. It’s boozy and warming but also sweet from the vanilla, whiskey.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 mcberko (4072) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 7, 2013
330mL bottle at Ølbuttiken, pours black with a small ring of tan head. Aroma is very luxurious and rich, full of chocolate cake, subtle whiskey notes, and moderate roast. Flavour brings out ultra-complex layers whiskey and chocolate cake predominantly, a very delicate note of earthy peat, with only partially-concealed alcohol, giving off a fairly hot but in no way detracting from palate. Not as complex as the Misto version, but this is exceptionally decadent. Excellent stuff.
