Wood and vanilla roastiness on the aroma. Black in color with a nice tan head. Super smooth, perfectly carbonated, chocolate and coffee with excellent complementary whiskey vanilla woody tones. Warms going down. Notes: Alvinne CBF ’11 on tap.

Aroma: Coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, hint of bourbon. Appearance: Black, almost no head. Taste: Medium to heavy sweet, light bitter, very complex. Palate: Full body, creamy slick texture, soft carbonation, long sweet and roasty finish with touch of bourbon, little alcohol warming. Overall: Perfectly balanced, delicious, with great drinkability for abv, barrel aging takes original version to another level. World class imperial stout.

UPDATED: JAN 10, 2016 At Mrk’s. Sharing my little 18 cl bottle bought at Plan B, from the vintage Molen closet. Brewed in 2010, bottled in 2011. Bottle nr. 1465 of 1560.We drink to the birth of Timo! Transparent colorless glass bottle with red wax head pours a darkbrown opaque beer with very thin tan head. Coffee, sweet roasted malts, sweet heavy bourbon, chocolate cake, vanilla, alcohol. Sweet and smooth, slick, dense and very tasty! In comparison to the Misto the Wild Turkey is sweeter and more dessert like. The Misto had a little more punch and seemed a little more complex. If I didn’t have them on the same day I might have preferred the Wild Turkey over the Misto because of the easy going sweetness. Still both are De Molen at peak quality. (13% abv version).

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2016 33cl bottle served in a snifter. Pours dark brown with a very short-lived tan, bubbly head. Aroma is chocolate, raisins, prunes, alcohol, oak. Taste is more of the same - very Christmassy notes with quite a heavy whiskey presence but very little of the typical buttery vanilla notes you expect with a bourbon barrel aged stout. Very little bitterness to detract from the rich flavours on offer here.
