On tap @ Kaapse festival. 5cl sample. The aroma has chocolate, roast, some boozy tones, liquorice. Black coloured beer with no head. The taste is quite bitter, has roast, chocolate, epicness, some coffee tones and sweetness. Boozy, warming, lingering full finish. Briliant,

@Borefts 2013. Dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig süß, fruchtig, alkoholisch. Geschmack sehr süß, malzig fruchtig, röstmalzig, den Alkohol merkt man deutlich.

Draught @ 5th Borefts Beer Festival 2013, Brouwerij de Molen, Bodegraven, Netherlands.

Clear dark dark brown color with a large, creamy - frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, chocolate, dark chocolate, alcohol - whisky. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter with a long long duration, chocolate, alcohol, roasted. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. Very nice sipper Menno ;D [20130927]

Tap @ Goude Winterbier festival. Almost black with small beige head. Coffee, chocolate, berries, caramel. Big and strong, sweet. Thick, syruppy body, medium carbonation. Very complex and interesting stuff. Alcohol is very well hidden. Really, really good.

On tap at Gouda Winterbier Fest. Opaqueblack pour, thin bubbly brown foam. Recognizable H & V aroma, rich chocolate notes, roasty, light ash, light smokiness, bourbon. Taste is rich, boozy, dark chocolate, roasted malt, smoke, sweet bourbon vanilla notes. Palate is thick, rich and syrupy with a great warming alcohol sensation. American brewers could learn a thing or two about De Molen’s and Struise’s high ABV beers, a real pleasure to drink.

At Borefts Beer Festival 2013. Black with a lasting tan head. Aroma has a lot of alcohol, dessert wine licorice and dark chocolate. Sweet roasted malt flavour with coffee and dark chocolate, some boourbon and coconut notes and warming alcohol. For an 18% monster, it has great balance

My one had 20%. The head is robust and brown, the body is black. It smells cacao, wooden, barrel, intensive. The taste is alcoholic, intensive, coffee, cacao, creamy. Very nice!

Tap at Borefts ’13. I am pretty sure I had rated this already but now it’s gone. One of the best beers of the festival. Totally black in colour, small brown head. No way it felt like an 18%. Bourbon, roasted malts, vanilla on the aroma. Taste is sweet, roasted malts, follows the nose. A bit sticky on the palate with low carbonation. Thick body. Really great!
