Bottle from Pibar, Lausanne, bottled 30 jan 2013
Inpenetrable black, with brownish small sized creamy head. Mild aroma, some roasted malt, cardboard; light bourbon; light animal character too. It has the correct carbonation level, with a round and smooth mouthfeel; the usual excellent use of malt provide a strong flavor of roasted malt and chocolate, with moderate sweetness; the liquorice touch is quite strong, itís also quite salty; finally some nice notes of vanilla; strong bitterness; faint sourness from the dark malts in the final.
Very good beer, not very cohesive though.

Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Almost black - offwhite head. Licorice. Boozy. Vanilla. Lots of coconut. Ok malty. Sweetness. Carcoal. Caramel. Wooden notes. Some tannins. Too boozy - too thin body and finish.

Bottle sample at a tasting at kerenmkís place. Thanks zvikar. Black with a light brown head. Aroma is a bit boozy with somewhat smoky bourbon, wood, roastiness, a bit of dark chocolate and coffee notes. Rather sweet flavor with bourbon, dark chocolate, wood and vanilla, continues drier and a bit boozy with a bit of coffee notes and a bit of smokiness. Rather full-bodied.

Countbeer (4301) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUN 2, 2013
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Brown pour. Medium sized pretty vast and pretty slowly changing beige light creamy brown colored foamy head on top of a black colored beer. Aroma of roasted barley malts, bourbon, peat, smoke, vanilla, cream, earth, coffee and a light spicy tone. Flavour of bourbon, alcohol, vanilla, earth, roast, chocolate, coffee, toffee, spices, bitter, some caramel, roasted barley malts, some leaves, molasses, coal and some sweeter herbal roast. Aftertaste of chocolate, coffee, bitter, roast, herbal and light dry. Low carbo, soft silky creamy thicker mouthfeel, full body and a creamy thicker light sticky texture. Quite a tasty and balanced brew.

bierkoning (9999) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - JUN 2, 2013
Bottle. Black and opague. Oak, roast and a hint of peat in the aroma. Dark chocolate. Malty, roasty sweet flavor with oak, bourbon, vanilla and peat. Chocolate and caramel. The bourbon is dominating the peat. Delicious beer, but flavors come and go and lack harmony and balance.

PriorL (1569) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAY 30, 2013
33cl bottle at home. Appearance: very black beer, quite some carbonation noticeable, nice stable mocha foam full of bubbles. Nose: first get something peated, but goes over in some kind of sweetness slowly. Lots of coffee in it as well. Dark chocolate, very heavy burned malts, some herbs even, a tobacco like hint, like from a good cigar. Some alcohol as well. Taste: oh, this is too peated for me, luckily, there is also some alcohol (bourbon) noticeable and some coffee notes. But mostly a smoked taste, itís too overruling for me though... I donít think the bourbon comes out enough though... itís camouflaged by the smoked aspect. Though, this beer is really well made, and I will enjoy every sip, itís not quite balanced enough for me.
