Bottle. Pours a rich black colour, no head. Aroma is full of whisky, coffee, roast malts and really rich chocolate. Flavour starts of intensly sweet by alcohol, but is soon taken over by full chocolate flavours and roast characters and ends into a long, smoked whisy finish. Wow, this gets better and better with every sip and as it warms up, it adds to complexity. It does carry a slight alcoholic burn in the throat, but it really suits the whisky flavours. Mouthfeel is really thick, velvety smooth. Incredibly nice to drink. Awesome brew!

33cl fles @home.Sterk spul en erg bitter. Je moet hier leifhebber van zijn anders is dit eigenlijk niet te harden.

Courtesy of BOLTZ7555. It pours dark mahogany with mocha colored head of foam. The aroma is big and odd initially with earthy poopy notes and then after a few minutes the aroma is left with earthy sweet barrel notes, some dark to burnt roasted malts and chocolate. The taste is fully roasted malts, dark roasted malts, burnt malts and some chocolate around the edges. In between all the yummy maltiness are notes of smooth semi sweet barrel tasty-ness. This is fully roasty and very dark roasted from front to back. Yummers!

(From notes 11 Oct, 2012) Bottle. Black beer. The head is light brown in color, but there’s hardly any of it; some at the edges of the surface. Aroma is smoky and sweet. Flavors are along the same lines, adding the familiar bitterness and coffee. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light; almost flat, texture quite thin. I prefer thicker, creamier. Finish is smoky, bitter and warming.

Overall, I would say this one had a good balance between bitter and sweet. Thoroughly enjoyable imperial stout!

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2014 Bottle from Bierkoning, pours deep and dark black with small to medium beige head and good lacing. Aromas and taste are whiskey, light peat, roasted grain/malt, burnt toffee, vanilla, and some light fruits. Smelled like rich oaky wood as it got warmer. Medium bodied for the style, hid the booze pretty well. Going to age a bottle and try again. Re rate bottle with al, notes are cookie dough, almonds, crazy old and dusty barrel, prunes and plum juice. So fucking smooth after 8/9 months.

Liquid coal pour with a small caramel head. The barrel adds a bit of complexity, including vanilla and bourbon into an already aggressive cocoa, peat, smoke, and coffee concoction. Still velvety smooth but chewy. Good.

0,33 bottle labelled 8/2.2011. 12% alc. from Bierkoning pours deep black with few brown bubbles. roasted black olives, punk wood, musk, liquor in the aroma. strong taste, peat, earthy and burnt with a lot of alcohol. initial creamy sweetness followed by a strong bitter and dry sensation. burnt ash and alcohol aftertaste. oily texture and sticky mouthfeel. very characterized brew, but too unbalanced to burnt bitterness for my taste.
