UPDATED: NOV 30, 2013 It’s a bit of an odd one. First of all there’s pretty much no foam. It’s dark brown, near black. Has the aroma of molasses and caramel sweetness with the expected barrel oak, then followed by a little weird mossy barnyard like funkiness. It all comes back in the flavor. It’s still on the good side, has a rich flavor, but doesn’t have that depth finish to balance out the sweetness and give it somewhat more character and depth you’d expect of a barrel aged beer. Maybe it needs more aging. The finish has the funkiness of barnyard and whisky that doesn’t linger as great some other barrel aged beers do. Actually quite bored me halfway. Didn’t finish it.

A nearly perfect brew. The beer is dark and thick and pours in your glass like oil. The taste is very rich with numerous different aspects battling for attention. Really exceptional.

Bottle. 9.5%. Bottle No. 0298. Best before Oct. 34. Pours black. No head. Sweetish, roasted aroma with a hint of vanilla. Notes of bread, wood and light barbecue as it warms; further warming brings out a light oxidation note and a touch of coffee. Smooth. Flavour is sweetish and a bit tart, with roasted and light barbecue notes. Dark fruit notes as it warms. Roasted, dark fruit finish with a lingering grassy note and a mild alcohol burn. No carbonation. Overall very good, but could have done with a head and carbonation. 18.09.13.

Color negro opaco prácticamente sin espuma. Aromas a chocolate, ahumados y especias. En boca es compleja con un inicio dulce tostado que acaba con un amargor especiado y ahumado muy agradable. Muy buena.

NeuroPliny (235) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 9, 2013
Poured from a bottle into a stem glass. Pours black with persisting thick brown head that leaves heavy lacing. Aroma is sweet peaty malt with notes of molasses, vanilla, mild expresso, chocolate, and chestnut. Flavour delivers on the aroma notes plus some well balanced hops that give it a long finish and zingy aftertaste. Awesome full bodied feel. Overall a well crafted and extremely enjoyable imperial stout from the Netherlands.

bottle @ home. HOLY CRAP . label states 33 cl , i think mine has at least 5 more. i opened it, there was beer between the glass and cap ( sides) , since its been filled so fully, the space beneat the cap ( to where the beer begins) is like the thickness of a newspaper-paper :p impressive shit ! pours black, no single bit of foam , at all . no matter how hard i pour ... smell has pretty much whiskey, but i also get the roasted malts. as good as flat ! not even worthy the name of carbonation, just a ’tinkle on the tongue’ . yet its very nice! FINALY a beer that has been whiskey BA and blended in taste, not like whiskey overpowers everything. i get very much coffee. bitter, whiskey . slighty, but in very small hints, i do get smokes/peated things. but even for me ( it litteraly makes me feel sick, thats how muich i like em) its not to much . aftertaste has chocolate, sweetness . thick mouthfeel. could use that hint more of ’ tongue-tickle’ ( as in, actualy have loiw carbonation, such as hel en verdoemenis ) . slight sour touch .. i dont know is this one has ’ gone bad’ ( too low carbo, is that small hint of sour normal ?? ) but i do like it . will probably edit this rating when i might have it again, ever.. )
