Poured from a bottle into a stem glass. Pours black with persisting thick brown head that leaves heavy lacing. Aroma is sweet peaty malt with notes of molasses, vanilla, mild expresso, chocolate, and chestnut. Flavour delivers on the aroma notes plus some well balanced hops that give it a long finish and zingy aftertaste. Awesome full bodied feel. Overall a well crafted and extremely enjoyable imperial stout from the Netherlands.

bottle @ home. HOLY CRAP . label states 33 cl , i think mine has at least 5 more. i opened it, there was beer between the glass and cap ( sides) , since its been filled so fully, the space beneat the cap ( to where the beer begins) is like the thickness of a newspaper-paper :p impressive shit ! pours black, no single bit of foam , at all . no matter how hard i pour ... smell has pretty much whiskey, but i also get the roasted malts. as good as flat ! not even worthy the name of carbonation, just a ’tinkle on the tongue’ . yet its very nice! FINALY a beer that has been whiskey BA and blended in taste, not like whiskey overpowers everything. i get very much coffee. bitter, whiskey . slighty, but in very small hints, i do get smokes/peated things. but even for me ( it litteraly makes me feel sick, thats how muich i like em) its not to much . aftertaste has chocolate, sweetness . thick mouthfeel. could use that hint more of ’ tongue-tickle’ ( as in, actualy have loiw carbonation, such as hel en verdoemenis ) . slight sour touch .. i dont know is this one has ’ gone bad’ ( too low carbo, is that small hint of sour normal ?? ) but i do like it . will probably edit this rating when i might have it again, ever.. )

Bottle, shared with and courtesy of Maltmisjonen - cheers man! :-) Nose is mellow chocolate, peat smoke, deep malty tones, grains, licorice, leather and hints of alcohol and cured meat. Taste is sweet licorice, peat, chocolate, hints of grains and alcohol. Very smooth. Medium carbonation, smooth body. Excellent stuff. :-)

Pours thick and black with a very small tan head. Nose is chocolate, salted sausage, smoke and toffee. Taste is heavy bitter and smoke with light sweet and a hint of salt. The mouthfeel is super dry, sucks the moisture from the pallet. The body is medium and the finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Reddish brown colour, tan head. Aroma of liquorice root, drop, chocolate and whisky. Quite bitter flavour, chocolate and liquorice. Finish whisky, chocolate, caramel with a bitter touch.

Very dark and sour taste. A bit of licorice notes. Sourness comes from the barrel aging i presume.

Bottle via ba trade. Pours black with a very creamy tan head. The aroma is toasty and roasty with smoke, peat, chocolate and even coffee notes. The flavor is a nice mix of smoke, chocolate, coffee, peat, and alcohol. Although I’m usually not a big fan of this type of barrel aging, there is enough of the base beer to keep this enjoyable.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2013 Bottle from Bierkompass. Pours almost black, no head, just thin lacing around the glass. Aroma is smoky, a bit leathery, heavy on chocolate and roasted malt and has some alcohol as well. Taste is also heavy on the luxorious chocolate, roasted malt that blends well in, smoke, leather, wood and at the end there is a warming whiskey sensation. Thick, velvety mouth feel. Fantastic sipper. Update: 21/12-13. 2009 18 cl bottle. Pours almost black, no head, no carbonation. Aroma is like Bourbon County plus peat and vanilla. Sweet, sugary, dark luxurious chocolate, peaty whiskey. Smooth mouth feel. Bitter, numbing after taste.
