UPDATED: NOV 6, 2011 2010 Vintage – 33 cl. bottle@Delirium Hoppy Loft: bottle nr. 863/960, started out quite below the recommended temperature of 16 °C and finished around it & honestly kind of liked it a bit more, a bit to cold because the taste carried even more of a punch to it, black with a huge, amazing mocha head, the taste upfront is not as strong as the aftertaste is and comes with freshly roasted coffee, slightly roasted taste malts, oak from the barrels, slightly bitter chocolate, hint of cold chocolate milk, hint of spice & smoke, aftertaste is amazing peated malts & light smoke, hit of ash, bitter in a nice & fitting way, would have been perfect if the body were a bit thicker

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Boutip (3459) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 22, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 30, 2012 Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a small bubbly head with no retention. Aroma of peat malt is dominated with notes of scotch also quite enjoyable. Taste is a nice complex mix between some peat malt with light smoked notes and solid black chocolate notes balanced with warming scotch notes. Body is quite full with no carbonation. Very well brewed with loads of complexity but still great drinkability factor.
Re-rate 2012: I didn’t even remember I had this before but WOW another great treat this is. The balance between smoke, scotch and light roasted malt is just perfect.

Rating # 12 from the danish beer festival 2009.
I love smoke, so this is a sure winner! Deep black with a small dark brown head. Heavy roasted malt aroma with tar notes, coffee, chocolate and oak. Nice smoke in the mouth aroma again. With a well rounded amuont of alchohol and loads of roastyness. Great!

Bottle courtesy of RasmusOtt -- many thanks! Pours a viscous black with a trim beige head. Smells heavenly -- a blend of whiskey, cocoa, and sweet malts. Tastes earthy -- loaded with tire rubber, asphalt, and ash. Certainly lives up to it’s name.

75cl bottle @Kaisla 1.2.12. Poured black color with a huge brown head. Whiskey, smoke, malt and cellar aroma. Flavor is smoke, roasted malt, whiskey, vanilla. Finish is long with smoke and chocolate. Oily mouthfeel. Loads of whiskey notes in this, making it even tastier and more complex than the normal version of this great IS. Just awesome.

Mini cutey baby bottle from Cracked Kettle.
The last of the Heaven and Earth series for me.
Poured into La Chouffe glass. Pitch black opaque on appearance with a nice mocha lacing, a little patchy but very nice. Aroma is pure whiskey, smoke, peat, wood, oak, some moderate grains, chocolate and coffee. Taste is rich dark raw chocolate, cream, vanilla, oak, single malt whiskey, coffee, stunning blending, stunning biterness, roasted malts, extremely balanced and drinkable, just a stunning proper imperial stout. Bottle number 663. Menno, I salute you!!!

On draft at 1st Borefts Beer Festival, Bodegraven. The last beer i had at the festival and perhaps the best one. This one has everything but still manages to taste perfectly balanced. Oak and peat dominate, malts and chocolate, sweetness with an alcoholic finish. Really, really good.
