Tap at CBC. This is barrel aged in Caol Ila scotch barrels, not "coal." Muddy to opaque ink pour. Medium carbonation with low lacing. Nose is sharp formaldehyde- extremely peaty to over the top. Taste is soil, dirt, formaldehyde. Someone said, "dead baby chihuahua." (??) Dry palate. Too much oak tannin. Definitely stayed too long in the barrel. Hot tamale.

On tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012. Solid black with a large beige head that leaves behind heavy lacing. Aroma is coffee, smoke, leather. Creamy mouthfeel, heavy on the palate, big smokey finish. Taste is smoke, oak, coffee, molasses, dates, chocolate, vanilla. Nice one for sipping after dinner in the winter.

Draught @ CBC ’12. Rated on 11.05.2012
Aroma is rather strong on islay peat – like smelling a glass of laphroiag. Also some ash and licorice. Flavour is sweetish with peat, smoke, licorice and hints of ash. Also some woody notes. Laphroiag in the form of a beer.

Draught @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2012.
Pours a pitch black colour with a creamy beigeish head. Intensive aroma of islay whisky, tar and dark chocolate.Very aggressive flavour of peat, tar, dark berries, bitter hops and islay whisky, meaning Caol Ila. Roasty finish with tar and peat again. Probably the most whisky-intensive beer I’ve ever had. Excellent stuff.

Pours pitch black with s smooth head. Strong aroma of smoked whisky, peat, roasted malts, wood, vanilla and oak. Taste is creamy smooth with a massive amount of smoked peaty whisky notes, vanilla licorice and oak, hints of roastiness. Finish is smooth with a lot of peated whisky notes. Nice, tasty barrel aged IS.
