COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

On draught at Gainsbar - Belgium. Deep black pour with a huge pillowy head that leaves a creamy lacing. Aroma is packed with peat smoke, toast, roast along with dark chocolate. What a beauty!

---hemel y aarde from barrel bruichladdich 1972---. Botella de 18 cl numero 1032 de 1776. elaborada en 03-12-2009. embotellado en 07-06-2010. esta y otras dos o tres botellas. Tomada en paco,s en verano de 2011. Imperial stout alucinante.

Dec 2011 bottle. Deep black pour with a huge pillowy head that fades very slowly and leaves creamy lacing. Aroma is packed with peat smoke along with dark bread and dark chocolate. As expected, this tastes like liquid peat smoke. Also, burnt wood, ash, and a hint of dark chocolate. Fairly high carbonation makes it foam up to much in my mouth. Full body, thick mouthfeel. Overall, pretty good beer but just too much peat smoke and too much carb.

Tap at The Trappist in Oakland. Not sure which variant I had - was described as "dark strong with Scottish peat smoked barley". Jet black color with a creamy head that left thick lacing. Very smoky, both in flavor and nose. Bit of a sweet finish. Quite good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

33cl bottle. Color is dark brown to dark. Head is quite thin. Body is medium. Still quite soft. Finish is slightly long. Taste is medium bitter but balanced. Aroma is chocolate, licorice, a lot of smoke, slighlty fresh.

Very dark beer with a brown head. Taste is full bodied and filled with coffee, cacao, a little smoke and lots of bitter. Great beer with a longlasting aftertaste.
