COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

180112@DØE Århus Syd De Molen Tastimng: Black color with a good creamy brown foam. Nice roasted coffee aroma. Rich and roasted flavor, not as smoky as I thought. Little sharp.

Bottle shared at tasting. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is peaty, chocolate, burnt malt, coffee. The peat comes out nicely in the flavour, not overpoweringly so as can be the case with some BA beers. Heavy sweet and bitter with roast, chocolate and licorice going into the finish. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Aroma of toffee. Taste is very smokey. Coffee and sugar. Huge mouth that was pretty slick and oily. This is a very tasty beer.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2013 Bottle from Bierkompass. Pours dark brown/almost black with with a thick brown head that lays down to rest as a thin layer of tiny, tiny bubbles. Quite lively carbonation. Aroma is smokey, like smoked tea and peat, leathery with some sweetness and alcohol, some faint raisins as well. Yum! A good deal of roasted malt in taste as well as smoke, dark bitter chocolate, liquorice, some slight sour notes. A slight alcohol sensation at the end. Thick mouth feel, high carbonation and a bitter after taste. One of my favourites from De Molen!

(187ml bottle, #274/1683, brewed 14 Dec 2009, bottled 18 Jun 2010 thanks to bu11zeye) Cloudy brown pour with fine creamy tan bubbled head. Noe of peat, mesquite, a bit of bandaid. Taste is bitter and estery, bad coffee, bandaid, bakers chocolate, I know others like it but I didn’t.

Pours very lively - black with a tan head. Jizzled everywhere. Aroma is massive - peat, alcohol, rich chocolate malt. Perhaps a little too carbed in the mouth. Flavours of chocolate, peat, sweet chocolate and alcohol burn. It’s intense and wonderful, and fabulous. I love this beer.
