Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

Picked up at the bottle shop at De Molen many manny months back. The 33cl bottle pours with a deep darkness that supports a two inch tall mocha colored head. The aroma is full of malt balls and melted chocolate with a bit of fudge, toffee, dark roasted malts and is a sliver of peat too. Nice! The taste pokes a peatiness at you first before chocolate and malt balls and coffee and dark roasted malts try to intercede amid the peatiness and slight spicy black licorice note. Terrific peaty addition to this Imperial Stout where you’re left with a pleasing creaminess into the after taste.

Pours an expected darkest brown verging on black with a thick cap of mocha foam. Aroma is profoundly dominated by smoky peat, iodine and slightly sulfurous. Taste is more complex with some cocoa and licorice notes punching through the smoky peat. Good mouthfeel. Finish is mostly peat and some cocoa. Very solid but then again I love peaty scotch so...this gets a bonus for that.

From the jug at the 2012 Pigs Ear Beer Festival, E London. Jet black pour with a beige head. Dark roast coffee aroma with dark chocolate, tobacco, wood and lots of smoke. Dark roast coffee, smoke and dark chocolate flavour. Full on throat warming action. Lovely stuff.

Black colour with a big bubbly and creamy beige topp. Peat and bacon aroma. Full body and a dry texture. Flavour was like the aroma. Rich peated and bacon. My mother enjoyed this more than me :-)

Smoky charred beef, kidney pie on the nose. Dark brown, murky, thick beige head, some lacing. Smoky peat and meaty flavor, just as the aroma, but now within a prominent prune base. Not terribly sweet and no chocolate detected. Very meaty.

Fluffy cinnamon coloured head, licorice body. Aroma of coffee, anise, and... honey! Wood and honey along with those "stripped-away-base-of-all-beer" imp stout flavours, finish is dry and peaty. Supremely satisfying brew. 1/20th of the way to 10 000, baby!
