4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Roasted, a bit bit boozy, nose, milk, coffee, dark chocolate. Dark body with brown head, that last for a while, not a tonne of lacing. Taste is nicely sweet and roasted, some booze. Very well balanced. Overall, a very nice stout.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2013 Pours with a fair bit of carbonation. I get a bit of smoke on the nose but not as much as I was expecting. What does not show up in the aroma sure shows up on the palate. Lots of smoke up front, lots of carbonation, a bit liquorice, boozy. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smells smokey. Pitch black with offwhite/light brown foam. Served to cold so less taste then original i guess. Taste of smokey and chocolate, quite sweet. Quite thin to be an imp stout. All over good, like the style, but there are a lot of more interesting imp stouts out there

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
0,33l bottle from Sörspecialista, Budapest. Opaque, black colored beer with medium, creamy, light-brown head. Chocolate, smoke, roasted malt and some caramel appears in the aroma. It’s less hoppy, than Hel & Verdoemenis, but it has stronger malt flavours, esspecially smoked malt, which gives it a bit meet flavour. Wooden cask and alcohol flavour also appears. It’s medium sweet because of the alcohol. Creamy texture, full body and average carbonation. Smoky finish. With its smoky malt flavours it’s another unique Imperial Stout from De Molen. Creamy, full bodied and alcoholly. Delicious and strong one.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 mL bottle from Les Fleurs du Malt in Lyon, France, served in a stem glass at a tasting at Chris’ place. Pours black with a medium, dense tan head that remains and leaves a moderate amount of lace. On the nose, there are notes of smoky, roasted malts, along with peat, oak, coffee and anise. The flavour is balanced between dry, roasted smoky malts and delicate hops. The peat pairs nicely with chocolate and anise. The finish is long and hoppy with smoky notes. On the palate, it is medium in body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a nice imperial stout, but I found the smoke to be a little too prominent. 2012-12-01

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours opaque black with a medium creamy brown head that slowly dissipates leaving nice lacing. Aroma is smoke, peat, whiskey, dark roasted malts, coffee, cigarettes. Anise becomes more apparent on the nose as it breathes. Flavor is about the same, very light sweetness, medium smokiness, some smokey astringence as well. Light bitter coffee finish with notes of anise coming through, but fortunately not too strong. Medium body. Not a huge fan of the anise here, but otherwise a nice beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml bottle (ALEhouse, Riga, MelnaZiema2013)
Nice gently smokiness above a potent, but still mellow roast. Soft palate, nice in the mouth, succulent and full. Roast is everywhere. Some mashiness and graininess to the body too. Smoth makes a subtle reappearance in the finish. Very nice, but just lacking the wow factor. Look forward to the variants!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle from Cotteridge Wines.Black pour with large tan head which subsided quite quickly.Early nose of peat and smoke with coffee too. After a few seconds aromas of chocolate and caramel with some dried fruit hints appear.Chocolate very much in the flavour with the underlying smoke and peat not far behind and just above the caramel and alcohol.Very enjoyable and will certainly sample the other variations of this one given half a chance.
