Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

Bottle. Pours brown color with tan head. Aroma is wood, tobacco leaves, malt and slightly smokey. Flavor is malty, roasty, milky, wooden, slightly hoppy and nutty. Overall a bit on the sweet side.

Aroma: Interesting, matches the flavor intensely. Smokey and charcoal, thatís pretty much it. Appearance: Looks perfect for an imperial stout, nice lacing on a strong tan head, and an oily black complexion. Taste: This is a little tougher. The coffee is definitely noticeable, but besides that most other flavors are masked by the intense charcoal taste. Now, thatís not a bad thing, but itís just interesting. Tobacco flies up a little at the end. Palate: My least favorite category, but it was a nice palate, definitely not smooth, but not too bubbly at the end. Stays strong the whole way through. Overall: One of the most interesting imperial stouts Iíve tasted. Itís almost more like a smoked than a stout. The overwhelming flavor of the smoke might turn some off, but its definitely worth a try at least once.

Bottle to oversized snifter. Looks good; brownish-black with tan head. Smells malty. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. I like the peated malt in this one. Enjoyable.

UPDATED: OCT 8, 2012 Lots of similarities in De Molenís brews...good thing they have a good thing! This one, unfortunately was way heavy on the ashtray. Charcoal pour with a small latte head. Loads of peat, char, soot, burnt wood, smoke, and soot. Yes, I used soot twice. Hints of brownie batter, chocolate, and vanilla. Just hard to find the other qualities. Not very good.

bottle, black black pour, zero head. light to medium peat in the nose, roasted malts with hint of choclate, Immediate heavy peat in the flavor. light black licorice gets overpowered by the scotch peatiness. Chocolate comes through as it warms. good stuff

Pours black with tan head and head seems to stay around. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and a Smokey roasted. Taste is a strong alcohol with a Smokey chocolate following. Great sipping imperial stout.
