Apperance: PItch black with a huge beige head and lots of lacing.
Aroma: Peat, Malt, Chocolate, Coffee.
Taste: Chocolate, Tar, Peat, Espresso, Roasted malts, Grain.
Palate: Very smoky and complex and ends very dry. Lots of things going on in this one. Still, it feels balanced. I like it.
Another great beer from De Molen. Although, 1 18cl bottle was enough :)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured with no head, very dark brown body with bits of yeast floating. My nose is not working too well but mainly got chocolate notes. Fairly full bodied in the taste, don’t seem to pick up on the peat, smooth, chocolate then some peat late in the finish. Very good.

bottle bought 2 Struise store.
#1239. bo 01-18-10
dark brown, light tan head.
aroma, char nose, light roasted malt and chocolate with some bittering hops and citrus.
flavors, lot of peat in this one, enjoyable without ruining the whole experience followed by some bitter hops, dry palate, a tad light on the palate with chocolate finish.
Not a big fan of the overly peat/char beers, and this one is right where it should be. Enjoyable

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home. Pours pitch black with a thin creamy tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, coffee, chocolate, some ripe dark fruits, some alcohol, some peat and a bit of resin. Flavor is bitter, roasted with some tobacco, peat and coffee. Slightly fruity in the beginning, but mostly very dry and bitter, especially in the finish. Very full bodied, but slightly harsh. Nice clear defined taste that’s not all over the place. Creamy texture and average carbonation.

Little bottle (180ml). Overwhelming smoky aroma. Small head with little retention. Oily black with low carbonation. Bitter burnt smoky aftertaste. Challenging but satisfying.

Interesting. Nose is very porter like with a bit of peat. In the mouth it is silky smooth and very imperial. Dark chocolate dominates with a medium bitter finish and an aftertaste of peated malt sticking to the tongue and lingering for a while. Not super complex but well made and different.
