Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

750ml corked bottle pours almost black in color with a 2 finger beige head that leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is smoky peat with some chocolate and licorice. Taste is smoky peat with licorice and some malty sweetness and mild hop bitterness tossed into the mix. Medium to heavy body with some decent carbonation. A very nice impy that was thoroughly enjoyed.

Bottle 750ml. Pours black, with light brown head. Some lacing. Aroma is of rich soil, old dirty lawn mower blade, mineral, smoke, grass, peat. Taste is of grass, green weed, roasted malt, smoked, bitter, peat. Overall: very grassy. Good carbonation for the style. A good beer.

Bottle 750 ml [2011]. Appearance: Pours dark brown (almost blach) with a nice medium dark beige head. Aroma: Heavy aroma. Very strong notes of peat, earth, mineral, smoked and roasted malt. Taste: Peat, hop, alcohol and mineral. Long aftertaste. Bitter finisih. Overall: Like the brewer said, there is "loads of peat" in this beer and it taste like lapsang souchong tea.

0,75 l bottle as in picture. Pours black with little head. Peaty aroma, roasted and burnt malts and some coffee. Aroma is strong, flavour is strong and full. Again the peatiness and the burnt malt is really present here. Some dark earth tones are present too. Good beer.

Bottle 33cl from bierkoning thanks. The most intense and impressive gushing ever, remains only 15% of the bottle in my glass !! A dark beer with caramel and smoked notes, aroma is smoked and sweet with a creamy body and fruity finish, ashes notes, unfortunately too less.

0.33 L bottle. Tall mostely diminishing choco head. Body is entirely black. Heavily roasted and smoky dark malt to the nose. A whiff of tar and peat, and hint of chocolate and vanilla. Near full-bodied. Viscous texture. Well roasted dark malts withe choco and licorice tones. Firm bitterness, both from the malts and the hops. Peat and smoke in the backbone. Smoky dark malts linger in a lasting finish. Very potent, very tasty.

Little head. Very dark and earthy. Peat comes through strongly in the taste and reminders of whiskey come to the nose. Excellent beer. Wow and Wow.
