COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

A superb beer from De Molen (again). Loads of smoked and peat aromas which overpass the back hints to liquorice. Complex and long-lasting palate, with smoke, wood and black fruits wrapped up into an oily but creamy texture. Divine, glorious beer.

33 cl. bottle. Pours black with a short tan head. Dark malt aromas with dark fruit and some smoke. Once you take the first sip, the smoke really hits you. The finish is slightly sweet and is completely masking the high alcohol content. What a great beer!

Poured from a 330ml bottle, pours black with some dark ruby visible in the light and a thick, dark brown head. Unusually light for a 10% stout, also unusually light bodied, still medium heavy but not almost oil like others. Aroma is heavily of smoke with some chocolate. Lively carbonation, taste was at first dominated by the smoke. After being left out, the taste matured and a lot of flavours came through, more traditional stout flavours like roasted malts and dark chocolate, with the smoke still being present. An excellent beer, definitely one to take your time with, different from their other Imperial Stouts I’ve tried, those being Hel & Verdoemenis and Rasputin.

Color negro opaco prácticamente sin espuma. Aromas a chocolate y especias. En voca es compleja con un inicio dulce tostado que acaba con un amargor especiado muy agradable. Muy buena.

From a 33 cl bottle shared at home. Pours black with a thick tan head. Slightly sour aroma. Flavors of sour cherry, chocolate and a hint of licorice. Highly carbonated, almost champagne like. Bitter finish.

Bottle->snifter. Deep brown with small tan head. Aroma: chocolate, coffee, molasses. Taste is boozy, with chocolate, coffee, rosted malt. Quite smoky. Lingering bitter aftertaste. Nice.

Pours a thin black or dark brown with light edges and a huge foamy khaki-colored head. Smells of phenolic smoke immediately reminding me of peat smoke. Bit of a peppered beef jerky aroma underneath. As it warms, and I acclimate to the smokiness, campfire-roasted marshmallows and milk chocolate notes emerges. Flavor is not so intense as the nose would suggest. There is a roasty, yet smooth maltiness, almost a bit chewy that stands up to the spicy peat. I can pick up hints of things like tootsie roll-like chocolate, caramel and dark chocolate pot de crème, but the peat smoke is still the dominant note. The peat does not, however, overpower this hefty brew overall.

33 cl. bottle poured in to a snifter. Pitch black with a huge, tanned head. Roasted aroma with rich malts, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and licorice. Smoked malts and peat. An yeasty-fruity note. Taste is sweet. Full body, thick feel, soft carbonation. Finishes dry with peat, smoked notes and rich chocolate. Rich and satisfying.
