COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

33 cl. bottle poured in to a snifter. Pitch black with a huge, tanned head. Roasted aroma with rich malts, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and licorice. Smoked malts and peat. An yeasty-fruity note. Taste is sweet. Full body, thick feel, soft carbonation. Finishes dry with peat, smoked notes and rich chocolate. Rich and satisfying.

Aroma of toffee. Taste is very smokey. Coffee and sugar. Huge mouth that was pretty slick and oily. This is a very tasty beer.

Pitch black color, brown head, some lace. Peat, tobacco, ash and tar in the big nose. Very soft and rounded palate. Tar, tobacco, peat in the flavor, I usually do not like beer with lots of tobacco, but this is quite drinkable. In the finish some sweeter notes. Long smokey aftertaste with alcoholic punch. Nice.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2013 Bottled 7/12/2011. Nose of chocolate and coffee, in the aroma more of the same with bit of smokiness and apple and raspberry fruitiness, also some alcohol burn. Very fizzy carbonation which I like in a stout, bitter finish, nice

Pours black with tan head and head seems to stay around. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and a Smokey roasted. Taste is a strong alcohol with a Smokey chocolate following. Great sipping imperial stout.

Bottle. Pours opaque black with a medium creamy brown head that slowly dissipates leaving nice lacing. Aroma is smoke, peat, whiskey, dark roasted malts, coffee, cigarettes. Anise becomes more apparent on the nose as it breathes. Flavor is about the same, very light sweetness, medium smokiness, some smokey astringence as well. Light bitter coffee finish with notes of anise coming through, but fortunately not too strong. Medium body. Not a huge fan of the anise here, but otherwise a nice beer.

Black color with small head. Aroma of peated malt, coffee, smoke, woody, roasty. Taste is bitter like coffee, light sweet, really good balance. Medium body, oily to creamy texture, average carbonation. Nice stout but not so imperial.
