Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

0.33 L bottle. Tall mostely diminishing choco head. Body is entirely black. Heavily roasted and smoky dark malt to the nose. A whiff of tar and peat, and hint of chocolate and vanilla. Near full-bodied. Viscous texture. Well roasted dark malts withe choco and licorice tones. Firm bitterness, both from the malts and the hops. Peat and smoke in the backbone. Smoky dark malts linger in a lasting finish. Very potent, very tasty.

Completely black with some imperial stout-ish foam. Aroma is very smokey, reminiscent of an Islay whisky, which is really dominant. Some dark malts. Flavour is of an imperial stout but with a strong Islay smoke note. Full bodied, complex and still more dark malts. Very nice smokey impy!!

Bottle - Great thick dark beer. Almost no head. Strong Smokey Sweetness along with lovely smoothness and nicely complimenting slight bitterness of dark chocolate. Another De Molen masterpiece ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bijzonder. Zwartbruin bier met weinig schuim. Aroma: houtskool, stroop. Smaak: licht bitter, verbrand hout, brood, karamel, donkere chocola, olie. Geen aangename neus.

This is smoke! A solid mass of old pipe grime stain comes out of the extreme dark filled glass. Palate is creamy at second sip with sooty chocolate. First sip was like drinking fluid smoke directly from an old chimney. Few slugs later the taste of hops is recognizable through the thick clouds of smoke. Long lasting aftertaste until the next morning...

Caramel, smoke, chili, figs, plums, chocolate, coffee, rye and grain. Smoked, but not as much as some smoked beers, where the smoke is way too much. This has smoked notes in balance with the other flavours of the porter, which is far more interesting as it brings complexity, but is not knocking out the other flavours. Could have more foam.

Bottle in Seattle. Thanks Trevor!! Heavy black, some light passing, nice offsetting light tan foam. Solid sweet smoke, bandaid/gauze. Lighter body than I expected for abv. Smoky malt is fantastic. Nice solid malt backbone. Bitter alcohol finish. Smooth, sweet, quite nice. Lovely.

Glossy black. Smoke, right up front. Lovely smoked scotch malts. Chocolate, Tootsie Rolls, tons of scotch whisky, and a little vanilla. Smooth as hell, only slightly boozy. This is really, really tasty stuff.

Dit is een bijzondere imperial stout. Zwartbruin bier met weinig schuim (crèmekleurig). Aroma: houtskool, stroop. Smaak: ook houtskool (licht bitter), geroosterd brood, karamel, chocola. Mooie zoete laag. Bittere nasmaak.

On bottle from Vinmonopolet some years ago(?), dated 12 march 2012. PItch black color, ok brownish foam. High aroma intensity; heavy peat dominates ( glad I enjoy Isay whiskey), dark choclate, some licorice, light roastiness, malt and dried fruits. Full body & high complexity. Immediately quite sweet, high bitterness- ends up on the sweet side. Very enjoyable

33cl-fles bij Gainsbar te Kortrijk. U: Zwart met donkerbruine schuimkraag. G: Turf, gerookte mout, chocolade en whisky. S: Whisky, karamel, geroosterde mout, turf, koffie en chocolade. M: Lichte carbonatie, zeer waterachtig mondgevoel. Lekker bier maar echt jammer van het waterachtige mondgevoel.
