COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

10% abv bottle from the 5 December 2011 batch. 25 year best by date. Pours with a near black black, deep brown hued body with a gigantic tan head. Aromas are of peat smoked malt, earthy, flint, scotch, caramel, bready malt, lightly floral, intense smoke (chlorophenol esque), light biscuity notes, bacon, caramel, maple with little yeast presence. Flavors are earthy, soil, alcohol, bacon, peat malt, bbq, caramel, milk chocolate, mocha, chocolate covered bacon. Lots of smoke, with grilled meat notes (melanoidin I guess). Medium (albeit a bit too much for such a big beer) bubbles, full bodied, smokey, dry duration, warming and big. I have never been the biggest smoked beer fan, but this is pretty solid. Very warming.

Puur zwart met mokkakleurige schuimkraag die snel wegebt tot fijn laagje. Aroma van rook, mout, sigaren. Geroosterde smaak. Pure chocolade, beetje (gebrande) caramel, turf, aarde. Afdronk heb je uren geniet van. Beetje bitter. Puur en onversneden. Op en top genietersbier. Klasse

500th rating. 330ml bottle from Brewery Creek. Bottled 28/11/14. Aroma brings out lots of peat, smoky and chocolate notes. Like you smell Islay whiskey. Taste is sweet, dark fruits, peat, resin, figs, smoky. Surprisingly not so full-bodied as lots of other imperial stouts, but very good, though. Sweet, smoky, peat aftertaste.

12 ounce bottle. Very dark with some amber. A big tan head leaves a little lacing. Chocolate and earth in the aroma is big. Some dark fruit and smoke, too. Earthy chocolate is tasted first. Soft fruit, some of it dark. Some tobacco and campfire at the finish. Light fruity hop bitterness, too. This is really good.

330ml bottle. Pours an opaque pitch black with plenty of sediment floating around and a small, short lived, brown head that laces. Aroma of roasted malt, peat, licorice and dark chocolate. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, peat, licorice, caramel, dark fruit, dark chocolate and vanilla with a dry, coffee finish. Full body with a thick, creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Fairly complex and well balanced. Very nice.
