COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

Black pour with a tall creamy tan head that eventually fades to 1 finger. Aroma is huge on peat smoke and iodine, along with woody smoke and dark chocolate, then some briny char, roast, earth, licorice and burnt nuts. Flavor is all chocolate and peat smoke up front, followed by dark roast coffee, roasted nuts, campfire smoke, earth, hints of sautéed dark fruit, burnt sugar, earth, burning hay and lighter roast, briny char, roast and lots of lingering smoke to the finish. Heavy body, creamy, oily and syrupy entry, heavy and blanketing carbonation and oily, boozy, slightly solvent-like and slightly acidic finish. Really tasty stuff overall, the flavor lasts forever and moves from one group of tastes to the next like acts in a play. Way, way over carbonated though, coupled with the light, but odd acidity in the finish, I have to wonder if it might be infected.

0.33 l bottle from ’Sterk Avondverkoop’, bottled in April 2014 (almost two years old). Pitch black with a thin, soapy, quickly diminishing, tan to brown layer. Heavily peaty, roasty-malty aroma of tar, licorice and ash as well as hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Sweetish, roasty-malty and heavily peaty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, tar, ash and licorice with hints of dark fruits, followed by a long, roasty-bitter, heavily peaty finish. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, flat. Interesting and rather intense stuff, great if you like peat. Definitely worth trying!

0.33 bottle. Black in color with a large, brownish head. The smokiest aroma I have ever experienced - wood smoke, peat, charred wood, licorice, and coffee. Taste is sweet, malty, smoky, some dark fruits appear, molasses, sugar. A full body, a thick texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is also smoky, peaty, smacks of tea. Overall, the beer is not particularly drinkable although one must admit its inherent quality.

I’m a fan of ’The Molen’ brewery, but this one doesn’t realy do it for me. Everything says stout, but it tastes like ’Earth’ to me.

Keg at ushers. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of smoke, tcp, toffee, chocolate. Taste is more of the same. To much tcp on the finish for me.

Thanks Višnja & Goran! Shared with Hrabren and them. My idiot "smartphone" ate my review up. This was a very pungent smokey flavor bomb of a beer if I remember correctly... A placeholder rating till I get to try it again, hopefully soon. :)

0.33 l bottle from Pivoteka Zagreb. Shared with Vi?nja and Goran and Marko. Black with brown tint. Off white head. Leather, blueberries, smoke, roasted malts. Very roasty and thus bitter. Sweet, alcohol, medium to full body. Oily texture.

Keg at Ushers. Pours almost black, brown head. Nose is roasted malts, peat, whisky, dark chocolate. Taste is full bodied, sweetish, liquorice, roasted malts, peated whisky. Delicious stuff. It is peaty whisky and on the sweeter side, thus not for everyone, but this just works for me.

Bottle with expiry date 28/11/39. Black colour, brown small head. Aroma is a crazy amount of asphalt and burnt rubber, also burnt fire log, dark chocolate. Alcohol is not noticeable. Hard to believe, but as you get used to the peat, pleasant chocolate begins to dominate. Light bitterness. Full body, but not too heavy. First shocking, but then surprisingly good.
