4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 andrewturba (456) - Alberta, CANADA - MAY 14, 2013
Pours an opaque black and a massive soapy long lasting tan head that leaves some lace. Aroma is peated malt up front, roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and as it warms up dark fruits come out. Flavour is quite peaty, moderate alcohol warming, mild bitterness, dry, coffee, earthy, dark dried fruit and some dark chocolate. A very interesting mixture.

I’m actually not a stout fan but I heard that this was good so I thought I’d give it a go. I’m so glad that I did. Very smooth taste, a touch of caramel and a very pleasant aftertaste. Looked wonderful in the glass.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Acid303 (262) - Barcelona, CATALONIA, - MAY 7, 2013
33cl bottle. Brewed on 16 November 2010. Bottled on 16 December 2010. Pours pitch black with a huge light brown creamy head. Very good looking. Lovely aroma: dark chocolate, smoke and hints of red grape (subtle). The flavour is coffee, lots of roasted malts, sweet chocolate and hops, all backed up by a warm sensation in the palate. Looks even barrel aged, maybe two years and a half inside the bottle helped in that regard. Full mouthfeel, perfect carbonation. Really nice Imperial Stout.

Pours a black beer with a not very long lasting head. It smells roasty and coffee. The taste is great. A bit smokey/roasted and the usual coffee and chocolate taste.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 langeveld12 (101) - NETHERLANDS - APR 28, 2013
Pours a large frothy light brown head that mostly diminishes. Aroma contains straw, roasted, burnt and nutty malts, dark chocolate and strong coffee, citrus fruits, dough, leather, earth, sweet fruits like grape and raisin, smoke, licorice, alcohol and peat. Flavor starts off light acidic and light bitter, then goes to sweet, to be quickly followed by peat and light bitterness, light sweetnes and light acidity. Body is full and syrupy, carbonation is soft. Good one! Contains lots of fruits, but peat kicks in making them indistinguishable (they're not pished away, they're still there). The total of flavors and aromas and the peat make this beer differ from other imperial stouts. Balanced and complex.
