COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

With the flavor of peat smoke, coffee and chocolate, a Ibu of 96 and an impressively impenetrable mouthfeel, this is one of the best stout I’ve ever tasted. Quite a masterpiece in which strength, texture and loads of spicy nuances go hand in hand. We drank number 7 of an output totaling 240 33cl bottles.

May 2012 bottle. Perfect aroma of dark bitter chocolate, coffee and Port wine. Beautiful. Beer is pitch black with slight ruby reflections. Beige head, solid for some time. Unfortunately big gushing occurred. Great mouth feel where the level of carbonation is low, which is perfect. It’s a pity it’s not more thick and dense. In taste it’s rather sweet. A lot of malty notes, a bit of wooden barrel and alcoholic. Nice bitter coffee finish. Great beer!

May 2013 bottle. Big, big nose, chocolate, soy, smoke, sea water. Pitch black with a thick milshake head. Sweet chocolate flavor, cream, umami, some coffee, smoke, whisky, sea water. Seems to be peated, but no medicinal, bandaid aspect. Fabulous stuff.

Bottiglia 33cl comprata da giangaspero e bevuta a casa. Nera con schiuma non troppo persistente. Carbonazione media, corpo pesantuccio. Molto torbata ma bilanciata da un buon amaro. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhold

Bottle: Deep, cloudy brown, tan ring. Chocolate, tea, earthy aroma. Taste is very smooth chocolate malt, wood....a bit of earth.. This old bottle handed down by Shrubber85 may have lost some alcohol heat and flattened a bit by age and sampling, but it was still very nice....mellow and mild.

Mikon luona 1/2015. Interesting smoky and "bready" imperial stout. Moderately hopped.

Very unique beer. Im not normally a stout drinker, so this is an acquired taste. But the peat smokey aroma is like "wow" and really hits the nise and taste buds. Also i get tastes of dark chocolate and a hint of caramel. Appearance is a bold jet black. Palate is very smooth and creamy, impressive for 10%. Overall it is clearly a great beer, but ive knocked it down a bit for its very strong distinct taste that is either a love it or hate it one.

Holy crap, this is great. 2011 Bottle pours pitch black, huge tan head; De Molen beers always froth up faster than I expect. Sweet smoke on the nose, chocolate, peppery espresso. Taste follows: like a bacon-smoked chocolate bar. Velvety mouthfeel. Wow.
