Made with the most heavily peated malt in the world from the Bruichladdich distillery. Almost pitch black and opaque, small head. Furiously peated aroma, hiding the malt, licorice and dark chocolate somewhat. Very full bodied, thick mouthfeel, like fluid bread. Dark chocolate, loads of peat, lapsang souchong tea, chocolate cake, culminating in an almost endless aftertaste that also has licorice.
Alcohol varies by batch.

Tap @ La tana (had a bottle of it sometime in the past). First of all, i love this beer. Black with reddish shadow solid color. Big creamy condensed cappuccino head. This beer is very hard to pour, the head prevails on the body no matter what or how you do. It’s a common issue shared by some other de molen beers. Intense herbs, malt, chocolate, cappuccino, tobacco and a little bit of smokiness aroma. Very good Taste of herbs, chocolate, sweet espresso, lactose, smokiness, peated malt, wood. Dry bitter finish. Quite carbonated but enjoyable anyhow. Big, massive body but silky mouthfeel. Basically the H&A is a really astonishing IRS (bitterness and sweetness perfectly balanced), in addition the peated malt gives a very brilliant smokiness feature which does absolutely not make the beer tasting like a fancy liquor or low alcohol whyshy. It’s not a really complex beer, the dark lord it is for instance, but in the first case i’d drink an entire bottle of of it without any problem cause the beer is damned enjoyable; for the darklord i doubt i’d like to. <3

W smaku - potężnie i oleiście. To jedno z najbardziej bezkompromisowych piw jakie dane mi było pić. Najpierw uderzenie kakao i czekolady, szybko zalane zostaje aptecznymi posmakami. Whisky dominuje nad wszystkim. Alkohol przyjemnie ogrzewa przełyk (i uderza do głowy!). Wspaniały RIS. Taki, przy którym człowiek żałuje że to tylko 330ml.

Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Thick roast malt nose, smoke, fish flakes, dark fruit, and alc. fumes. Dark brown. Heavy roast malt, licorice, tobacco, vanilla, and a small coffee note in late mid and final. Heavy, full-bodied stuff. Wow! Has a lot going on. Smooth and boozy, but doesn’t really feel like 10%

Aroma: Mostly peat malt/smoke, licorice, chocolate, coffee. Appearance: Intensely black with an (almost non-existing, quickly fading) off-white head. Taste/Palate: Again mostly peat malt/smoke, coffee, chocolate, licorice.

Impressive licorice aroma with a sour twist in an inky black pour. Taste is the same - with hints of chocolate and coffee and a tasty sustained finish.

Great aroma of bonfire smokeness with chocolate and coffee. Pours pitch black with small but stable tan head. Taste is medium dry. Beer is very smooth and incredibly balanced between smoke and chocolate. Finish is medium, herbal bitter. Overall fantastic!

Massive peaty malty aromas... the flavour follows suit, big roasty, boozy, whisky, coffee... warming. Quite a thin body and not too sweet, which makes it alarmingly drinkable. Stunning stuff.

Bottle from Saveur Bičre (2014/11). Low, creamy, beige/brown head. Black body. Smells of roasted hops, coffee, nuts, leather, oil. Tastes strong of salt, licorice, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, roasted hops, very spicy. Sweet, salt and bitter. Clear finish (thankfully). A surprisingly different touch to this beer which I appreciate, even though it’s not particurlarly a beer I enjoy that much it’s a good brew none the less.
