Bottle, bd 12-2013. Pours black and tan. Aroma: chocolate, light peat, liquorice. Taste: dark chocolate, vanilla, wood, honeycomb, ash, liquorice, slightly salty. Full bodied, medium to high sweet, moderate bitter, light sour syrupy mouthfeel, bittersweet finish. Very nice, but i think i like the non-BA version better.

330 Ml bottle Black, jet black. Thin light tan lacing. Slightly syrupy looking. Nose is salted pork, smoke, treacle, roast, burnt tires, oak and faint bourbon notes. Taste is far different. Just faint smoke, more oak, vanilla, chocolate, and roast. More classic BA notes really. Low carbonation, full feel. Slightly syrupy in the finish and some sourness. ABV hit home later on

Tasting at Matt’s
Black color with large head. Aroma of caramel and wood, with depth and layers, with chocolate and light sourness from the dark malts. Rich malt and chocolate flavor, moderately sweet, with a mild bourbon note.
Excellent as usual.

mcberko (6880) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 17, 2014
12 oz. bottle, pours black with a few bubbles of tan head. Nose is complex, with whiskey barrels, vanilla, light smokiness, and roasted malt. Flavour is robust and elegant, with complex whiskey barrels adding to the medium smoky base, with roasted malt and vanilla. Very well-rounded, masking the ABV very well. Very soft palate. Excellent BA impie.

minutemat (1820) - Ford, Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 29, 2014
330ml bottle @ Les Crepes de Sophie, Shrewsbury, shared with Blackhaddock, Fin & Loz. A very special beer indeed. Slick, powerful bourbon notes perfectly blended with smoked imperial stout malts. A sumptuous, decadent beer that demands to be savoured.

BlackHaddock (4034) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - AUG 25, 2014
23rd Aug 2014: shared bottle with Fin and Mat at Sophie’s Creperie. What a lovely beer, so smooth and interesting. The barrel aging has mellowed the base beer and given it an extra dimension. Chocolate notes abound and blend very well with the old oakiness of the barrels: most impressive.
