4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

2.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
2013 vintage. Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is figs and cocoa, tons of both, some roasted malt. Appearance is black, no real head or carbonation which I find concerning, and it didn’t make a noise when opened. Taste is strong, roasted malt, oxidized, booze, smoke, rough. Mouthfeel is...flat, somewhat thick but just flat. Overall, fuck I spent too much money for this to be oxidized.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
330 mL bottle shared by ebone1988. August 2013 vintage at 10.2% ABV. The pour is a thinner pour, somewhat watery. The color is medium black with a small bubbly collar of khaki head and no lace. The aroma is all chocolate and fig. There is no real alcohol or anything else for that matter. There is a light roast on the far back end, but this is a little sweeter than I could've hoped for. The flavor is alcohol burn and a light roastiness. There isn't a lot of chocolate or fig here. A light dark fruitiness is trying to come into play, but it's just not good. The mouthfeel is thin and watery and the finish is lingeringly smokey and light. I do not like this at all.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
0.33 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’ as ’Heaven & Hell’ at 11.9% abv, bottled in September 2014 (over one year old). Clear, very dark red to black with a medium large, creamy, stable, brown head. Roasty-malty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, dark ripe fruits and minimal hints of alcohol. Sweetish, roasty-malty taste of dark chocolate and coffee, later joined by dark ripe fruits (raisins, prunes), followed by a medium long, roasty, pleasantly bitter finish with notes of dark chocolate and coffee again. Full body, very creamy mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Absolutely harmonic, wonderfully creamy and totally balanced. A bit simple though, lacks a bit of complexity.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 8/6/2013. Pours dense pitch black color with a thin dense dark tan head with solid retention; that reduces to a patchy lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, molasses, raisin, prune, licorice, vanilla, char, leather, light smoke, herbal, wood, and roast/smokey earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of big dark/roast/bready malt; with light-moderate dark fruit, smoke, and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, molasses, raisin, prune, licorice, vanilla, char, leather, light smoke, herbal, wood, and roast/smokey earthiness. Good amount of herbal and roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, raisin, prune, licorice, vanilla, char, leather, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of big dark/roast/bready malt; with light-moderate dark fruit, smoke, and earthy hop flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and very full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this was an awesome Russian imperial stout style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of big dark/roast/bready malt; with light-moderate smoek, dark fruit, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap, Multitap Pivnica in Kielce. Pours deep black colour, a bit hazy with a decent, tan head. Quite a lot of fruits in the aroma, cholocale somewhere in the background. A hefty punch of dark chocolate in the taste, liquour, a touch of coffee, plum and cherry in the aftertaste. Rather dry with nice and strong bitterness. Exceptionally drinkable beer as if it was dry stout not RIS, thus treacherous as... hell. Not a bad word about this one.
