Imperial Stout – 10,2% vol. Twice the amount of dark roasted malts used, massive Imperial stout. This is a mad one. Black brown colour with a thick and creamy tan head that can be added to as you wish if you give the bottle a swirl. Give this beer time to breathe and blossom into something truly stunning. Chocolate and alcohol are right there at the front but do not at all overpower the gorgeousness that is underneath. Full of leather, vanilla, amazing wooden notes, beautifully floral character from the hops, thick Belgian chocolate, much character. The flavour of crazy wooden tartness. An extremely bitter finish seems to come out of nowhere and is what really makes this quite unique. Superb width in the mouth and coats the whole palate beautifully. Alcohol 12% in latere versies

Bottle from De Bierkoning.

Not a surprise, I find this beer delicious in every way. Excellent look with a large creamy tan head and near pitch black body. Strong flavor intensity and complexity from start to finish. Coating mouth feel. Nose is strong and fairly complex. An incredibly great beer. Quite stunning. De Molen’s beers are one of a kind. The best stout brewer on earth.

Bottle at home. Black colour with thin beige head. Aroma is dark espresso, roasted malts and hint of alcohol in the backround. Taste is sweet coffee, chocolatea and fruit before the bitterness punches in. Heavenlylike sweetness changes to strong grapefruit bitterness which takes you to the gates of hell. Rich and complex taste. Fully bodied beer as one could imagine. Great beer.

Bottle from Cottridge Wines. Deep black colour almost no ran head. Aroma is tabbaco, chocolate, coffee, deep roast and toasted malts. Bittersweet taste, with satiated bitter finish.

Bottle. Wonderful thick black oily appearance with two fingers of dense mocha head. Aroma is smoke, ash, anise, and milk chocolate. Taste is coffee, bitter roast, dark chocolate, and honey. Finshes bitter, full bodied, with light carbonation. How is this 12%? There’s really no hint of the booze, this is dangerously good.

One of the best Imperial Stouts from De Molen (it’s difficult to rank them in order), close to the perfect Imperial Stout canon. I could write about ir for hours, but I wouldn’t get close to all the sensations that this beer bring to your mouth/nose/body. Wow.

Flaska. Mörk, mörk brun öl med ett medelstort moccafärgat skum. Dofterna är trevliga om än inte fantastiska, kanske beroende på att vanilj är en ingrediens här. Men även mörk choklad och kaffe hittar fram. Men smakerna, oj vad ölen tar igen allt här. Fullsmockat med kaffe, choklad, saltlakrits, trä, en lätt fruktighet. Stor och full munkänsla. Enastående beska. Det är bara att njuta, njuta och fortsätta njuta.

Bottle from Jane’s Beer Store, Mountain View, CA. Aroma: holy crap - massive roasty grainy aroma. Taste is heavenly smooth chocolate, molasses, coffee, slightly burnt, with a bitter finish. Thick smooth body. A terrific example of an imperial stout. Best beer I’ve had in a long time.
