4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Appearance: pours a very dark, nearly opaque, with a nice reddish-brown foamy cap that unfortunately quickly dissipates
Aroma has prunes, malts, and a little orange.
Mouthfeel: this drinks like a classic milk stout. The body is incredibly creamy – beautiful.
Flavour: is again lots of prunes, with a chocolatey/coffee malt layer underneath, and a hint of orange peel at the end. I was pleasantly surprised to find hardly any toasty notes here.
Drinkability: this could be a beer you’d love one glass after another. It could be, if there wasn’t the 10.2% alcohol in it. It’s such a sweet, creamy, tasty, drinkable beer.

Bottle; pours nearly black with a thin ring of beige head; sweet aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla, with some wood and floral notes; taste is more bitter than sweet with dark chocolate, roasted malt, licorice, vanilla, and hints of wood and coffee; finish is dry and bitter with some dark chocolate notes and alcohol warming; very nicely balanced and delicious

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle, 0.33l, shared with Hoppiness crew. Pours pitch black with medium creamy light brown head and good lacing. Aroma of heavy roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, vanilla and wood. Taste starts with moderate sweet and heavy roasted malt and coffee, follows by chocolate, licorice, some sourness and earthiness, too, mouthfeel is warming with well hidden alcohol, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, creamy texture and soft carbonation in palate. Heavenly good, no relation to hell noticed...

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle, bottled 31 Dec 2014. Impenetrable black with decent sized mocha head that recedes to a soapy film. Lots of milk chocolate in the aroma, some soy, molasses, a little coffee, alcohol. The taste has very roasty malt character, burnt black coffee, a little sourness, some molasses, alcohol sweetness, licorice. Less full and creamy in body than expected. Solid imperial stout but the roastiness is a little too acrid.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330 ml bottle at home. Yeey, a decent carbonated beer of De Molen again. Pours deep brown with a small beige head. Aroma is just perfect! Highly roasted, combined with a tad of alcohol makes it a nice and interesting beer. Full bodies sweet caramel body, with nice bitters in the bridge and a peaty/smoky finish complexifies stuff. The dark chocolate finish is just a threat! Please please let this be the standard for the future brews. Verrry nice.
