Imperial Stout – 10,2% vol. Twice the amount of dark roasted malts used, massive Imperial stout. This is a mad one. Black brown colour with a thick and creamy tan head that can be added to as you wish if you give the bottle a swirl. Give this beer time to breathe and blossom into something truly stunning. Chocolate and alcohol are right there at the front but do not at all overpower the gorgeousness that is underneath. Full of leather, vanilla, amazing wooden notes, beautifully floral character from the hops, thick Belgian chocolate, much character. The flavour of crazy wooden tartness. An extremely bitter finish seems to come out of nowhere and is what really makes this quite unique. Superb width in the mouth and coats the whole palate beautifully. Alcohol 12% in latere versies

Appearance: pours a very dark, nearly opaque, with a nice reddish-brown foamy cap that unfortunately quickly dissipates Aroma has prunes, malts, and a little orange. Mouthfeel: this drinks like a classic milk stout. The body is incredibly creamy – beautiful. Flavour: is again lots of prunes, with a chocolatey/coffee malt layer underneath, and a hint of orange peel at the end. I was pleasantly surprised to find hardly any toasty notes here. Drinkability: this could be a beer you’d love one glass after another. It could be, if there wasn’t the 10.2% alcohol in it. It’s such a sweet, creamy, tasty, drinkable beer.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Daniel. Pours clear black-brown with a frothy tan head. The nose has some burnt cereal, cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with bitter scorched earth, oily cocoa, some dried fruits. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with more earthy bitterness, burnt wood, baking cocoa. Not bad.

Bottle @ Croydonia. Deep brown with a tight tan head. Nose of meaty coffee ad cocoa. Pretty muscular. Oily chocolate shake. Similar flavour. Moderate hoppy bitterness and charred grain. Earth. Forest fire. Motor oil thickness. Boost juice indeed.

Bottle to stout glass Chocolate, coffee, light caramel and smoke, wood, and some very light barnyard. The colour is a very dark, opaque, brown with a thin mottled frothy dark tan head. Retention is good an there is moderate lacing. The taste starts with a light caramel, but then goes full on into dark chocolate and vanilla, leather, soy and hoppy bitteness round this out.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with beige creamy head. In aroma lots of roasted malts, chocolate, some liquorice and very nice vanilla and woody notes. Overall great aroma! In taste the beer is full of dark chocolate and coffee with same great wood and vanilla. All this backed by medium strength bitterness and warming well mixed alcohol. Full bodied, oily texture, creamy on the palate, softly carbonated. Great beer.

DocJitsu (1202) - Florida, USA - MAY 20, 2015
Pours nearly black with NO head in spite of a vigorous pour. Smoky, very dark roasted aromas with substantial depth. Completely flat. When I pried the lid off, it gave no fight at all and no "ssst" sound was noted. Seems the carbonation leaked out of an unsecured lid. Otherwise, it’s rich and thick. Just a hint of carbonation would’ve made the difference though. It was bottled on August 6, 2013 and I’m drinking it on May 20, 2015. Alcohol heat is noted midway and through the finish. Well-blended sweetness and olive and dark chocolate bitterness. Inexpensive Canadian whiskey is also noted.
