4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 HV (4) - Utrecht, - NOV 1, 2009 does not count
Appearance: pours a very dark, nearly opaque, with a nice reddish-brown foamy cap that unfortunately quickly dissipates
Aroma has prunes, malts, and a little orange.
Mouthfeel: this drinks like a classic milk stout. The body is incredibly creamy – beautiful.
Flavour: is again lots of prunes, with a chocolatey/coffee malt layer underneath, and a hint of orange peel at the end. I was pleasantly surprised to find hardly any toasty notes here.
Drinkability: this could be a beer you’d love one glass after another. It could be, if there wasn’t the 10.2% alcohol in it. It’s such a sweet, creamy, tasty, drinkable beer.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 jstraw (1211) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 9, 2012
Black with big, foamy, fine bubbled, head / Big, rich nose of tobacco, chocolate, coffee, and cream / Full body, chewy, inky, moderately sweet and malty, with some hop balance and lots of acidity and bitterness, with good bitter finish / Flavors of semisweet chocolate, cream, oak, tobacco, licorice, and prunes / Very nice in a sweet, inky style.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 PhillyCraft (608) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 8, 2012
Bottle. Ages for 25 years so I grabbed one for a rainy day and one to try now. Pour is total darkness. Tiny bubble creamy head that is espresso brown. Lacing is sporadic but very lasting, it almost constructed a brown landscape painting on the inside of my glass. Aroma is caramel sugar, bittersweet chocolate, raisins, slight metalic like serpents stout. Taste is fig, dark fruits, vanilla, hershey syrup, white oak, some clove or gingerboard notes in the finish. Soft and warming in body. Boozy but in a good way for a 10.2% stout. Excellent.

Bottle. 12 oz. Split with and courtesy of Vinny. Pour was pitch black and it had a very nice aroma, but I honestly do not remember it all that well. Ah, c’est la vie, I suppose.

Bottle - pours pitch black with a good amount of head. Smell some chocolate and vanilla. Its a little hot but there are lots of chocolate throughout and some nice dark, dry chocolate on the back end. This is a really great beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Mortlach (436) - Rome, ITALY - FEB 2, 2012
17/06/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma abbondante, cremosa e morbida, color cappuccino. Aroma intenso di malto tostato, con note di luppolo in evidenza, vaniglia, cioccolato, caffè, lieve affumicato. In bocca risulta dolciastra, con un retrogusto amarognolo caffettoso e finale affumicato. Corpo medio, consistenza oleosa, carbonazione soft. Imperial "smoked" stout notevole, leggermente stucchevole alla lunga. Affumicato non così caratterizzante.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 biggirlpanties (61) - Maryland, USA - JAN 12, 2012
[place holder rating- notes backlog] One of the most perfect imperial stouts I’ve ever tried. Ultra creamy, super rich palate. Awesome appearance- ink with massive rocky foam. So much chili pepper, hazelnut and dark chocolate. Liquid chocolate mouthfeel. Perfect.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. A - Poured a clear black color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. S- Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt, wood and alcohol aroma. T - Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt flavor with a medium to heavy toasted dark fruit sweet finish of moderate to long duration. M - Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. D - My expectation where exceeded.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 Dogbrick (4837) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 27, 2011
Pours a viscous black color with a thick beige head that bubbles away slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Notes of sweet malt, coffee and figs in the nose. Rich and smooth body with flavors of charred malt, coffee, dark fruit and bittersweet chocolate. The finish is roasty with a lingering chocolate covered espresso bean aftertaste. Very good beer from start to finish.
